My 04 SL has a connnection in the glove compartment that I can connect my Ipod direction into the audio system. May want to see if the E class has that also.

There have been a number of discussions of the AUX input n the '04 E's on other threads. Mine has it with a standard 2.5mm plug in the glovebox. I don't believe it integrates but it is selectable with a soft key. I haven't tried using it yet.

True, we do have an Aux connector, but connecting it and listening to music and "integrating" it are two different things, and this is what the BMW/iPod combo does. Being able to select the music through the head unit (and through the steering wheel controls ). I believe Oslo did a really nice little install of the iPod in his car, but it still does not integrate.

Today's WSJ says that Apple linked up with BMW on this item because of the perceived shared base of BMW drivers and IPod users ... no IPod users in the M-B ranks, right? Also, Steve Jobs has a Z8. Ironically, the IPod kit doesn't work with the Z8, a discontinued model. The kit doesn't presently work with the 5- or 7-series, either. The WSJ doesn't say why, but Apple and BMW probably concluded that the drivers of the 3-series, the trucks, the Z4 and the Mini are more likely to be IPod owners.

Isn't it ironic? BMW with integrated iPods, Chrysler 300's with mp3 and Sirius (without antenna drilled in trunk) and bluetooth!
And I can't even scan my radio presets from my steering wheel.
Thanks MB

What's pathetic is that even if they someday integrate the iPod, most of us will probably have to do some kind of elaborate work-around to retrofit. And, what about those of us who don't have iPod's. I have a Rio Karma (better sound than an iPod) and I can just picture myself cruising the interstate at warp speed fumbling with the Rio to find a track. Uhh, no thanks.

It's well hidden. In mine, it is in the glove box, centered in the top and recessed. I had to put my head down on the seat and look up to find it. Even knowing where it is, I have trouble finding it by feel.
From some of the other threads, it sounded like not all MY '04 W211's have it. If so, they must have made a configuration change part-way through the year.
