Car pricing from insurance company *CHECK YOURS*
I have checked with all the major car sales sites, and have done nationwide searches to find similar wagons for sale and even some recent sales from bring a trailer. Hopefully they look into their valuation mistake asap so I can get my baby fixed..
Anyways, this is just a note for those out there reading this with a 211 wagon.. Call your insurance and ask them what the insured value (like in a total loss situation) would be. If you do so, I would love to hear what insurance company you have and what their valuation is of your 211 wagon.
For comparison sakes, mine is:
2008 E63 wagon with 3rd row seat (1 of 62 for 2008)
2 owner
Flint gray exterior, black leather interior with alacantra and ash wood trim
126,000 miles
immaculate condition
'14 E63 wheels installed
paint corrected and ceramic coated exterior
New OEM exterior window trim and belt moldings
Fresh ceramic window tint
brand new OEM headlamp assemblies that have been clear bra'd
basically all sorts of new things since I am a Mercedes independent shop owner and AMG enthusiast with 15 years of experience in the dealership world as a technician

They usually determine the value by taking a pool of comparables from both private sellers and dealerships and comparing sale price vs. actual sold price and taking an average. They will compensate the value up or down based on variations in mileage, condition and installed options and/or aftermarket components.
In your case, you can object to the valuation. Explain that the comparables aren't accurate because they are not limited edition, etc.

So gather your evidence and go back to you insurer. They’ll listen if presented with a good case.

Of course I've already showed them auction prices. I've been tracking dealer sales, auction sales, craigslist, and Facebook ads for five years just in case of this situation. Over 200 sales in my spreadsheet with VINs, mileage, and pictures and they dismissed them all.
Both my insurance company and the insurance company of the bozo that crashed into me use the CCC for valuations, and they do not allow auctions as a permissible source. So if you have any other bright ideas, let me know.

If you have comprehensive/collision, go through your own insurance. Go on the internet and find the most recent, highest price comparables that are most similar to your car and insist they match the value. If they refuse, threaten to go to the insurance commission.
Your insurance company owes you a duty of good faith - the 3rd party's insurance doesn't

When my W211 was wrecked, my company presented me with their comps. I gave them mine and they took the average of the highest 9. Mine was a nothing special E320 sedan with almost 200k miles on it. The settlement would have allowed me to get a newer year with half the mileage. But there were hundreds of them available.
I’m thinking lawyer.
