Who has the best price on OEM MB extended Warranty's?....
Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to purchase a warranty from Lisa@MB of Chico, and now she sent an e-mail back to me stating that the prices have gone up. the price now for an 04 E500 is $2090. This is up quite a bit from the last time that I read about it on this forum. If anyone knows of a better place to buy an extended OEM MB warranty, could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks!

she was actually doing you a favor if she was selling you a 3yr warranty through benz for 2090, for that is dead cost, list is 2700. i would rather see you pay that for a benz warranty then see you save a few hundred dollars for a third party warranty.

I suspect that every dealer will match the lowest price. Probably complain a bit about doing so, but they'll do it. Something sold is better than nothing sold. Fletcher Jones Mercedes matched the lowest price I found on the internet.

My dealer mentioned that I must make up my mind about the extended warranty in the first year of ownership. Is this true? Also, from those of you who have seen Mercedes repair bills, is it worth it to buy the warranty?

For us, we plan on keeping the car after the factory warranty is up, so the extended makes sense in our situation. If you don't plan on keeping the car after the original warranty is up, then I'd save my money. Just my .02, and you usually get what you pay for!

Is invoice price for 3 yr extended warranty also $2090 for 05 E320 4matic?
Hmm, one year. I guess it's too late to buy on an 03 C240, huh? When did they start offering this, anyway? Since 2003 or earlier? I seem to recall it started last year maybe?

I'm not sure these extended warranty's are any better than the warranty's Circuit City sells for TV sets.
In my experience, all the costs I've had in the first seven years of Mercedes ownership have been maintenance items. The only thing I can think of that the warranty would have covered was a new head gasket on my 300E but that wasn't needed until the car was 12 years old.
Would the warranty cover things like flex disks, motor mounts, cleaning fuel injectors, catalytic converters, etc? I think these would all be called maintenance items.

You can get the complete list of coverages from any dealer but the BIG think not covered is the COMAND system. I wasn't happy about that omission but got the extended warranty anyway a few months back.

I'm on my third Mercedes. I drove the first one 17 years. I have had my 300E for close to 13 and now I own an E320.
So far, I've never experienced a problem that would have been covered by an extended warranty.
I've had BMW's that could have used it but the costs to fix the problems were so cheap I never even bothered taking it to a dealer.
I still doubt I'd get an extended warranty unless I put a lot of miles on the car. I would always run out of time before I hit 100K.

I was thinking about an extended warranty for my C230 but after paying $1700 for the extended warranty for my 2001 Sportrac and having to pay for repairs TWICE because somehow they manage to exclude the problem, I think I'm going to pass up the extended warranty. Example, My car overheated and when I took it for repair it was the thermostat. They changed it and changed oil and filter but even though overheating was covered since the thermostat isn't, the rest of the repair isn't either. Worth the time to fight it? Most likely not and that's how they make the money.

Just bought our 05 E320 4matic today. Bought the 3yr/50k extended warranty plan for $1895. Include the 2.5% tax (don't know why that was included, maybe bogus?) and that brings it to $1942.38. Anyone found a cheaper price? Lisa @ Chico able to beat it? If so, I'll cancel and get money back and buy from the cheaper source.

Hi, new owner here. Just purchased a StarMark 2004 E500 and got the three year extended for about the same price. I read the fine print and it covers everything except the radio and NAV systems. Of course the consumable items are not covered.

Extended Warranty
I've had a bunch of Mercedes. From a 1963 220SE Convertible (USA version) to my current rides. AS to whether or not to buy the extended warranty, it only takes a little bit of things to go wrong to be worth it. Cheap insurance is my philosophy. I hope to never have to use them, but if I did (and I have), then they are worth it.

Also remember that labor today is about $100 per hour and will only go up. What will it be in 5 or 6 years? Also the new cars have so many features on them, airbags, electronics, air ride suspension etc. One or two items can cost much more than the cost of the extended warranty. I also learned that my extended StarMark warranty is 100% refundable. If I sell or trade in the car before the beginning of the warranty I get a full refund. After the extended warranty is in effect it will be pro-rated. Can't go wrong here...
