Confirm proposed repair for Front Lefthand Door handle
I've a 2008 E300 (W211) whose front lefthand exterior door handle is broken and needs to be repaired. The symptom is that pulling on the exterior door handle doesn't offer much resistance, as if a spring is weak or not engaged. Everything works on the door (latches / unlatches / locks / central locks work ) so its not related to the lock mechanism. I presume that the problem might be the recoil spring in the handle bracket and so I'm planning on getting a bracket to replace. I hope I've described the symptom adequately.
But I wanted to confirm first whether the problem is what I believe it to be. In the picture below, I've pointed out the spring I think is broken.
Does this spring provide the resistance one feels when you pull on the door handle? Will replacing this bracket shown in this photo fix my problem?
I have a lead on a replacement that is off of a 2007 E350 (designation w211.056). Mine car is a designation W211.092. There is a very slight part number difference between the two from the VIN decoder.
2007 E350 (w211.056) bearing bracket - Part # A 203 760 07 34 - car equipped with option Avantgarde (994)
2008 E300 (w211.092) bearing bracket - Part # A 203 760 01 34 - car equipped with option Elegance (955)
Does anyone know if the handle and bracket from this parts car will fit my car, given the slight option difference between the vehicles?
