Dealer to mount spare tire? Shop can't do it.
I bought a new Continental doughnut spare to replace my spare from 2005. Tire shop say they don't mount spares. Is this a dealer only thing because of the special size?

Where did you buy the new tire? Why the seller did not mount it?
For W211 I would get full size, who fit OK after some lining removal.

Thanks for the help! I have new 18's now and my old 17's I still have with decent continentals as a spare set x4. If I can fit one of those in the storage area then I'll be fine with that.

That’s why I asked TJTS1 the tire size in the photos, and so it looks like a 17” wouldn't fit.

I had no idea a full size spare would fit under the trunk floor like that, very good to know. I have separate wheels for summer and winter so I'll replace the donut spare with one of my off-season tires. An all season tire on one side and a winter on the other is dangerous, but probably less so than a donut and easier on the car.

Yup, the wagon spare tire well is pretty awesome. If you remove the center cap and flip the tire upside down you can use one of those round screw in baskets to create extra storage space.
this is my old 245/45R17 5 spoke spare in the wagon with a bunch of other tools and things I pack for road trips. I've since switched to 225/55R16 all around.
Did urs have the flip up foot rest thing for the 3rd row? I removed mine.
I can't imagine doing one of our 1000+ mile road trips with a doughnut spare that can only be used for 50 miles at 50mph.

I have the full jump seat set up. I actually ordered the one piece lid from Germany since I could not fin one here to do the full seat removal as I will never use it. I like the idea of carrying a tow strap. I come from 15 years of Jeeps so I'm used to that but it felt weird in a Merc lol.
