I picked up my ride yesterday, and let me just say, It is well worth the wait.

It's every bit a car as any I've ever been in. Off the lot, it felt like I've been driving it for years.

- Pano roof: Really defines the car, and sets it apart

- Navigation: (first in a car) Never get lost again

- Xeon Active lights: Wow and they do corner.. though not a tremendous amount. Did I say wow.

- Harmon Kardon-6 disc: Very clean and plenty of bass

- Keyless Go: People think I'm doing black magic., Really this is the kewlest thing by far. I don't think that I can drive anyone elses car anymore without leaving their doors unlocked when I leave.

- Dealer Installed 35% tint: did a prestine job, really. no edges, felt stripping.. and under warranty and done for $400. Maybe I could have gotten similar or the same jobe done at another place (art of tint) for $275 (quoted)... yeah maybe in 6 mos when I got around to it, so that I can save $125 on a car that I just paid $60,000 on... doesn't seem like much to pay for having it now, done relliably well, with knowing who to ***** to at the dealer if something goes wrong.
BTW: Maybe I could have gone 20% (lower=darker) cause of the light interior, but didn't want to risk everyday tickets here in NY.

NOW FOR THE DECONTING CHECKLIST: (Build date: Late June)

- The illuminated entry system does not include entrance lamps beneath the side mirrors.

- The front center armrest storage compartment is not climate-controlled.

- The standard sedan audio system includes 9 speakers, no subwoofer.

inserts with M-B Tex trim, and full M-B Tex rear-seat upholstery.

- The windshield washers are heated only at the nozzles. The reservoir and hose are no longer heated. The rear window washer on wagon models is no longer heated.

Maybe they still had some parts left over from the 04's when they were building mine.

Car sounds nice and thanks for the detailed report.

When you provide details on the open items, please advise if you have the REST feature in the Climate Contol system. You can tell if there is a button in the contol panel marked REST.

I've seen '05s with the new upper vent (no hot/cold thumb wheel) and still had the rest function. Elsewhere someone said the change is August. With the strike our car will be finished August 1-3. Wonder...wonder...

One other thing we opted not to go with the Harmon 6 cd changer. The Ipod mini in the picture will give us days of tunes

 

Best of luck. Your interior shot shows that you have the hexagon type all weather mats. Are you aware that there is newer style MB all weather mats available? More modern design, provide protection for the dead pedal (area to the left where you would rest your foot), fasten to floor tabs (same as carpeted mats) making them safer, and are available in colors. I don’t have access to my camera to post a picture but if you’re interested the part # is 6-6-68-8607 (black).

 

Thank you for the keen observation. Actually those mats are from my old C-class that I transferred to the new car for the time being until the actual proper mats come in

any comments are appreciated.

 

I just noticed that the '05 W211 do not come with ashtray or cigarette lighter anymore. It has a rubber mat in its place and a cover over where the lighter would be that says "12 volt outlet".

 

I think MB have changed things so that the "No Smoker Package" becomes standard and the "Smoker Package" becomes a no cost option.

 

Great photos!! I also use my iPod for music and have stopped using the CD player as you can get so much more on the iPod. While the sound quality may be a little lower than with the CD's, I can hardly tell the difference with my "old ears". I usually put my iPod in the cup holder and angle it up so I can see what's playing with just a glance down. Someone had a photo of how he'd modified the cup holder to hold his iPod but we use the holder for drinks on occassion so I haven't done that.

Glad they have the AUX jack in the glove box for easy hook up of the iPod.

 

what kind of wire do you use? Maybe I'll try hooking up my kids Ipod to see how it works
