Illuminated Entry in 2004 E500

The 2004 brochure says on page 46 that I should have entrance lamps in all 4 doors and underneath the outside mirrors. the lights for the 4 doors are their but there is none underneath the mirrors.

Anyone has a 2004 that is missing this? It should be standard.

M-B deleted the lights under the outside mirrors during (I believe) the course of the '04 model year run. This has been extensively discussed, for instance:

DWP is correct about the running change, but if you mean there is a lens in the mirror base but they don't illuminate, make sure the switch that activates the overhead interior light when the front doors open is turned on. It also must be dark outside for the lights to illuminate.

Check for a light under the mirror as stated. If you see it you have it.

My husband's '04 (bought in Dec) has them but mine doesn't (bought in May).

Right. If they aren't physically present on the underside of the mirrors, then the dealership can't help you there. Removing those lights is one small part of D-C's ongoing program to increase margins (or decrease losses) on the M-B line by removing features and equipment, while continuing to raise prices.

this sucks....you think you're getting a feature and none of these sales people think to tell you what features have been removed mid year.

Some people who purchased '04 models reported seeing stickers on their owner's manual or on the E-class brochure that made note of the equipment deletions. If the sales staff actually represented to you that your car would have a feature it did not have, or handed you a brochure that listed features not on the car you got, then you might have a claim. If they were silent on the subject of the missing features, or if you picked up a brochure months before you took delivery of the car, then probably not.
