o well I was really hoping to be able to play dvds on the nav screen i wonder if there is some sort of adapter that possibly can be purchased like the nav-tv that allows you to watch tv, but dvd's as well on my 06' SL500 I cant even get into that hidden menu..it has the option to play a dvd but if you put it in nothing happens as well..on the E nothing even shows up for dvd..does there happen to be a external aux port in the back of the system that a dvd player could be purchased and mounted in the glovebox or some sort?

I got into the menu in my early build (April 04) 2005; in the main menu I only saw the W211 US model, however in the keyboard menu I selected W211 ECU, however I noticed no change (even after leaving the car off for awhile). When I switched to AMG I got the AMG logo however.
I'd primarily like to see what the British accent is like and maybe the new and improved menu? Anyone know how the user below managed to get into this alternate menu? Is there a thread somewhere of all the hidden COMAND menus i've missed?

The strange thing about all of this is that this is not the menu I got into earlier, which is what I thought was the 357 menu. That menu had to do with navigation and somehow allowed me to choose a guide voice with a british accent (the setting/language chosen was English GB). The problem is I didn't shut off the COMAND long enough to let the setting stick. I also don't know how I got into that menu since I was just going crazy with the buttons.
Update: Found how to swap to British menu, and how to make it stick (a bit of DIY work involved):

Anybody know of this menu and how to get in?

I was in radio mode then pressed and held down 5 then quickly held down 3&7 at the same time..it will load this menu up select AMGW211 with the arrow keys once the radio button is selected on that turn the power off of the command system and then turn the car off..wait 2 min and restart the car and it should load up for you..

Slight thread revival here - but I think it's a popular topic. This also worked on my early build 2005. I put it in aux mode and like some other posters, you kind of have to press 5 first and then quickly do 3 and 7. The car's ignition has to be on, and to SAVE the settings you have to turn the COMAND off, then the ignition off and wait for a few minutes, otherwise it won't save.
I'd be very interested in helping to get DVD-in-motion to work with a US-Spec COMAND. It seems we need to get our hands on one of these early 2003 units![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I have an 2003 E500 but the head unit has the tape player installed(yeuch). After reading through these posts I tried the following,
1. Turn car on
2. switch to radio
3. Open the tape player as if you were going to put in a tape
4. Hold 5 down then 3 and 7 together
5. Close the tape player
After you close the tape player a menu is displayed with two options(picture attached) I was wondering if anybody know what these were before I messed anything up
1. Turn car on
2. switch to radio
3. Open the tape player as if you were going to put in a tape
4. Hold 5 down then 3 and 7 together
5. Close the tape player

Hi
Finally after 2 years of driving W211 E320 I found out that I have dvd in US command.
Here is the story. I went to the service engineering mode and at some point I got to the hidden menu by pressing 1+3+8 then "back" and then 1+4+7 --> it worked but I did not have dvd so actually there was nothing to change there. Then, I turned the car off and went home. When I got back after few hours I saw a disc that came from the single cd slot....I thought it doesnt work because I have cd changer...and that was command update (dated 2003 - my car is 2004). The screen had two lines and it said that i have to put an update disk so i put it back. The update took about 5-10 minutes. After that the only change was that under AUDIO there was radio and cd, before I had cdc (changer) and cd.
Then, I found that being in Audio mode I can press 3+5+7 allows you to change from US to Europe version 211ECE, so I switched to ECE and turned off the system. After that, Command became euro version and now I have VIDEO instead of SAT and can play DVDs (i didnt know that the single slot is a dvd
) Also, I could get another option in the radio - RDS - and now I know what the station is playing. That's kinda cool, but there is a one proble - now I can't go to the hidden menu and turn the DVD motion off and enable mp3.....
Is there anyone who did change from usa to europe and then was able to go to the hidden menu????
I can go easily to engineering menu but now nothing works to allow me to go to the hidden buttons, I have tried *#<left arrow>, also 138->back->147 and it doesnt work at all. Maybe I am doing something wrong now....
Also, after changing for euro, when I press TEL it said PLEASE INSERT PHONE, before it was PHONE NOT INSTALLED or something like that, do you know what that means? do I have to put that bluetooth device into the armrest?
thank you soo much

Hubi,
you closed Engineering Menu as you updated your firmware. The Phone Down + Mute + SERV is the code that is available but only works on the earlier versions of our COMANDs. Since you updated it the codes have been changed and Becker keeps them a good secret.
Although my mother knows people at Becker (the manufacturer of the COMAND sysems) there is no way so far to get the new codes out

Contrary to popular belief, the engineering mode can be accessed on COMAND units which have the updated firmware.

so, do you guys know if it's possible to reset or downgrade it? i don't believ that I have a problem because of the upgrade because it is old cd and i still can go to engineering menu, but maybe I can downgrade to have it like before....????
also, what about the phone? in US it said "phone unavailable" and in euro --> please insert phone.......what is that?

I didn't say you can't nor said I the EM is gone. What I said is the software developers changed the key sequence so people can't access it anymore.
jkv11503 did you try your new codes on a US or Euro COMAND?

Mackhack,
seems like we have same cars (04 E320),
putting Command on the side, i don't think I will be able to change dvd in motion settings at all, what you have on the display when you hit the TEL button?
