Keeping DPF Clean
I had my DPF removed and professionally cleaned in a company that only do this kind of job. It was cleaned using what they call "cooking method". They cut the DPF case in two pieces and cook the DPF itself (the filter) for around 8 hours and then clean it, reassemble and test for performance.
Many mechanic say that it is good to add to the Diesel fuel some additive to help keep the exhaust system clean but many of them does not know the appropriated kind of additive to use.
As Mercedes Benz are a kind of sensitive engines and they have too many restrictions about what to and what not to use in their engines, I would like to know from this forum if someone has some good recommendation for some good product to add to the fuel in order to keep the exhaust/ DPF system running healthy.
My car is driven 55 Miles everyday in highway at speed of 65MPH, which according to Bluetec owners, it is good for DPF's system.
Thanks
To assist the ignition point is a bonifide Cetane booster , 2-EHN .
This will make for an easier time for the dpf .
Best thing you can do for do om642 is to minimize oil in the intake. So keep the oil between minimum and 1/2way on the oil. I would encourage doing oil changes early and use 229.52 oil. The airfilters are small, id 1/2 the interval.
Im pretty sure there are companies which can clean your dpf if needed.

Change EGR make sense but only replace without knowing if it is bad or not is not a good idea.
Also about the oil level is another good idea.
Thanks for your reply
We sold our ml and got a om648 car. Wife an mechanic are much happier. Parts are less expensive too.

About EGR for these cars, I noticed that MB dealers change EGRs very frequently. I had a 2009 Bluetec and the previous owner had this car serviced by MB and the service report had EGRs changed couple times.
