Command Unit Software Update
Vehicle is a 2007 E320 Bluetec. I want to update the radio software. I find and read so much conflicting material. I did a search on this site and found a thread with a link right to MB with all the material needed for the update. One of my questions is how do I tell what version is on my unit? Is there a link for Mercedes for the Navigation DVD as well?

The file you are trying to install is for firmware 30/06 which is definitely older than what you currently have. It seems like 30/06 was released only for the EU COMAND, which is different than the US one and firmware is not compatible. What you should be installing is 29/08 (though I think it shows as 28/08 when you do a version check on the COMAND after you perform the update). Don't worry, that's what the forum is for. You shouldn't have an issue with that since you have an 2007 car and are most likely running that or a newer version. I've updated an early 07 model with no issues with the AGW. Even if something happens the dealer or indy with the correct tools can flash the AGW.
PS Try playing an audio CD in the COMAND unit CD drive to make sure it still reads as it should.

Ok. I burned that file on a CD. I then looked to make sure all the files were on the disc. Looked good. I put an audio disc in the command unit, it played. I then pushed 1,3,8. It told me to insert disc. Command unit told me I was missing a file. Error, click ok, then disc pops out. Any ideas?

What program did you use to burn the ISO file? From your post it sounds like you've burned the ISO file to the CD correctly, with the ISO file extracting on the CD. Also was the COMAND unit empty when you first pressed 1,3,8? I'd also take out the DVD from the trunk unit just to be sure while updating.

I used nero. The file didn't state it was zipped. After I burned it I left it in the cd drive and looked at the files. It showed like 8 or 10 files. No cd's in the 6 disc changer. The NAV player did have the map disc installed. I will try it again. The cd in the command unit was empty, pushed 1,3,8 and it stated insert update cd. I think I did everything correctly.

If the issues persist, use ImgBurn with the option "burn image to disk" and specifying the ISO location and you should not have any issues. Also make sure to burn at a lower speed for burn quality purposes.
