20" Wheels and tires... Will it rub?

I am thinking about getting 20" wheels for my E500, probably 20 by 8.5 in the front, and 20 by 9.5 or 10 in the back. Would 245/35ZR20; 275/30ZR20 have fender clearance problem? Please share your experience. Thanks!

Hi,

I just installed Maya STM 20X9 front and 20X10 rear on my E500. I am using Pzero Nero 245X30 and 285X25. No problem. I am at Yorba Linda now. Since you are at Tustin. Feel free to look at my car

If you are planning to use 245X35 and 275X30, then you are oversizing the wheel. That is not good for the suspension. Need to cut the screws above tire.

if you are lowered, there is no way that the front will not rub......it will rub....atleast i don't think you'd even be able to make a full U-turn........

my buddy with the E320 has 20x9's on the front and lowered on H&R's- he can't make a full Uturn without rubbing the hell out of the wheel well.....

but if you're not lowered, you might be ok.......

Your buddy's E320 = Bad Job??

If he did his car right, it should not happen. Or unless the E320 Spring take too much space?? I have Airmatic and it is no problem for me to du a BIG U. No rubbing.

I also heard about E320 w/ H&R having problem with 245/35/20 in the front. So I guess it is different witht he Airmatic.

Rusnakmb: I sent you a PM yesterday. Just give me a call whenever you are free.

doesnt have airmatic and they are maya rims.....i forgot what size tires he has, but it is far from a bad job.....i guess H&R's sit lower than airmatic causing him to rub while you don't.......

"Sick" meaning, "good", right?

One could argue that giving the rice Conestoga wagon look to refined, elegant car like the W211 deserves the more traditional meaning of "sick." But that's a matter of personal taste, isn't it?

Hi Calboy! I am still trying to decide on the wheels. I went checked out RusnakMB's car yesterday. His car looks really nice with the 20s. I also saw an E500 and E55 with 20" yesterday. All looked good and the wheels don't look too big at all. I just got AMG front bumper and side skirts installed yesterday. I will have the rear bumper and Qua-exhaust put in sometime next week. I also don't know about the rear spoiler yet. I think I will leave that till everything is finished.
