Hello! The red button inside my trunk doesn’t work to close down the lid. When I press it, I hear the motor make the closing sound, but it just doesn’t go down. I have to push it down, then it makes the sound that it seals shut. The button on the trunk handle works to open the lid, but doesn’t go all the way up without me pushing it up. 2007 E 350 4matic. Please advise.
It needs to detect the fob nearby. Did you change the fob batteries? Sometimes it also gets confused and then I hit the unlock button on the fob and then hit the red button again and then it works. Also you need to adjust the trunk handle back, if it's stuck in the open position that might also be the reason, you have to manually move it back.

the trunk handle doesn’t adjust. When I reach under there it’s a button. That works to unlock and open it when I have the key fob. No way to manually move anything.

There's an exterior trunk handle that opens the trunk. When you have keyless go, you can just pull on the exterior handle outside the trunk and it will open the trunk when it detects the key. That handle tends to stick as the car ages so it might be stuck in the open position, you just have to move it back manually.

It doesn't actually move that much. It's right above the license plate in the middle of the trunk. When you have keyless go, all you have to do is lift up the lever and it detects the key and unlocks automatically. Check your owner's manual.
