Just about finished :) Suede Headliner + Tv Tuner

Well I think that I'm just about done with my mods; lol. I'm not really into the performance mods and I think everything else is just about done. Anyways here are some pics with the updated mods, Euro Impact Strips, Tv Tuner Installed, + Full Suede Headliner + Pillars + Visors. Enjoy!

The guys that did the interior work were 212motoring in bklyn, ny. All of the Euro items were purchased from steve, and mostly all of the euro items were installed by steve as well. All in All, I got very lucky in finding talented installers for every aspect of the car. End result is a clean, sharp, sporty product!

Also, dont forget you really cannot tell how nice it is from the pictures. I wish I could take a picture like the designo ones shown since it really looks just as good in person, Im just a lousy photographer; lol. Everything is so tight around all of the seams you would really never know that it was done aftermarket. I wanted to have my heated wood wheel wrapped also around the leather parts but that would have to be sent away to duplicate mb's stitching pattern and I didnt feel like waiting any longer.

I actually have a place down here which is going to integrate the Valentine arrows and bogeys graphically via the MB comand. They'll install the V1 into my rear shelf and integrate somehow with the comand. I believe you need a video input into the comand to accomplish this, luckily for me I have 2 additional in the tv tuner.

Looks great. I love suede. How well do the local channels come in on the TV tuner, such as the major networks? I wonder if there was a way to integrate DirecTV in to the setup? (I know, I'm dreaming here)

More and more I'm thinking about getting the Euro COMAND.

Well I live in Staten Island currently so the reception here for NY locals is pretty poor. Since 9/11 our major antennas for NY which were located on the wtc building are no longer there. From where I am I receive mostly jersey stations and they do come in very clear. The other day I was very close to the city in Brooklyn and was watching Fox 5 NY and it was crystal like a dvd. I guess it really depends on where you are located and how strong the broadcasting signals are in your area. Also, you could easily integrate Directv with any car that has existing video inputs, provided you want to put a box the size of a small pizza box on your roof for the gyroscopic antenna to recieve the signals from the 110 or 119 sats

I believe from MB there are two tv tuners available for the w211; one with Secam and one with Pal/Ntsc. The one I have is with Pal/Ntsc obviously since I live in the states. Everything works relatively well, last thing Im going to be doing is installing the W211 rear factory monitor for my back passengers. After that, I SWARE Im done; lol. Oh Btw.. Our famous MbWorld handyman steve did the install for me. Amazing work!

Can you tell us what the suede upgrade cost? BTW, everything looks beautiful. I really like the color combo on your ride, very classy.

Question for you guys, is it better to just order my w211 without COMAND so that I can have Steve install a Euro spec one with tuner or should I get the US COMAND and do the TV Tuner upgrade only.

The interior cost me around 2k which included the headliner, front middle and rear pillars, sunroof cover, and all 4 of the visors. Here's the deal with your comand question. You have a few options here. If you do not order the car with comand and navigation and just get the standard unit steve cannot offer you really anything for the trade-in. If you do get the navi + comand you can upgrade from steve for 1500.0 with trade in. If you want to buy the unit outright its 2500.00 and if you need the navigation also I think its another 1200.00. Now the TV tuner for me has since proven to be pretty much useless, I have nothing to hook up to the auxiliarys since the headuni plays dvd's. If you do get the comand with your car and you can get the 357 to go into ECE mode I believe you can get the tv tuner installed which is a pretty cheap solution, well at least cheaper than the comand. This will allow you to have TV and you could connect a dvd changer or rear camera or whatever. I really wanted the rear camera purely for safety feature and hate that I cannot get it in this car. I could get a camera installed however I would have to switch the comand to the Aux input everytime which I think is a pain in the ***. I wish they could develop some module for the comand which will automatically switch video inputs when the car goes into reverse. Anyone know anything about this?

Nothing MB related (sorry)
Hey, Fazooley! Your car looks 'erg strak', as we say here in Holland. Meaning that it looks 'very tight' = GREAT!

With the designo interior (not available in the US) the top of the dash and doors are covered in charcoal leather, the bottom of the dash, bottom of the doors, bottom of the dash, and roof are covered with charcoal Alcantara.

What are the sides and top of the console covered in?

Wow! I wish they offered that Designo package in the US.

As I've said, I wonder what goes on in the minds of MBUSA.
