2011 E350 AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Good evening guys,
A few months back i realized the the ambient temperature is not reading, my AC has stopped working and also a check engine light. Took the car to autozone and got it scanned, i was told that my ambient sensore needs to be replaced. Last night i purchase the part for 39$ (lifetime warrant), jacked the car and got the sensor swapped out. Immediately after, i realized that there is still no reading. I attempted to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes but nothing has changed. Is the anything esle that i need to do or miss. Thank you guys

Well you're actually in the wrong forum as you have a W212 not a W211. But I would give it a few more start stop cycles and see if it starts working. Mine did the same thing. It's like it doesn't try it right away, same thing when it died on me, didn't get an outside temperature display a few times and then afterwards the A/C died. I didn't have a scanner on me at the time but if you do maybe clearing the error could would make it go away quicker. Basically I'd start the car, shut it off completely a few times and it started working. Of course the other possibility is that some critter critter damaged the wires going to the sensor.

Honestly,
i dont know what w212 and w211 mean, but mine is E350 2011. I went to the autozone and tried to see if i can return it, one of the guys told me that normally it will tke a few days or a certain distance for the computer to recognize the new parts. i tried to reset the computer by removing the batteries terminal for a few minutes but i still have no positive results. Normally i would used my truck to work, therefore i will continue to use my E350 the whole week to see if the sensor will eventually shows reading. Thank you man!

I did manage to get mine working in the same day, probably started and killed the ignition at least 5 times or more before it started working.

Your W212 is 4th generation of the E-class. W211 is 3rd generation, which ended at 2009. Different bodystyle and different everything.

I got an OEM temperature sensor so I don't know. It was only about $20 which I got online, but even if you go the MB dealer, the list price is $25. MB only has a 2 year warranty on parts though.

For a lifetime warranty you'd have to get it from FCPEuro, they have a lifetime warranty on all the parts they sell. But it's only $12.89 so you'd have to pay shipping so only worth it if you needed a bunch of other parts. Also check to make sure you don't have any wiring damage.
