4Matic noises when turning

E280 CDI, 4Matic, Sedan

The car is making small "clunking" noises when turning in low speed. The noise reminds me of CV-related issue, but both left and right CV-axle have been replaced. The noise occures each time the wheel rolls a round, but only when im turning too. Besides this I have a heavy vibration when driveline is under load, especially when gear engaged. The vibration also occures heavelly when im parked (or backing up) in a slight incline (engine down) when the pawl in the transmission is stopping the car from rolling (not using parkingbrake). The engine and transmission mount have been changed.

Don`t know if the issues are related to eachother, but let me know if you have any ideas what the issue might be...

MBUSA released attached bulletin that may apply. If oil change fails TC may need rebuild or replacement.

Your driveline vibrations when at a stop are because you didn’t use MB replacement axle shafts if that’s new since replacing the CV joints. The initial concerns sounds like to check the fluid level and replace first

I had similar symptom. I replaced both cv joints, but when I got to the front right wheel and spun the hub with no wheel on, I could feel the crunches.

Bearing replacement was easy. Bought the bearing at orielys and took the hub to any local auto shop to press out the old bearing and press in the new one. I couldn't press it out myself, the bearing is THICC.

Since you'd have to remove the spindle assembly, it may also be a good idea to replace all the suspension components if they're worn out.
