Memory Seat Reset

Hi All. We recently picked up a W211 E55, and I've discovered that the memory seat function doesn't appear to be working. The seats adjust as they should, and pressing any of the buttons from 1 to 3 bring the seat to the currently stored position there from the previous owners. However, as we've discovered, adjusting the seat to where it's desired, then pressing M, and then one of the memory positions, nothing happens. It just moves the seat to whatever the current stored position there is, and it can't be changed. We've tried holding the Memory button then trying again, but to no avail.

I am pretty sure that you're supposed to put the seat in the position you want then apply it using the above method. Is there something being done wrong? I can't quite figure it out. Fixes or suggestions would be great.

Notice the video does not mention holding the number, after pressing M.

If that does not work, you probably want to check for codes. If nothing there, I would go for the buttons. Perhaps M is no longer "clicking" anymore. You already tested the numbers are already working since it goes to previous settings.

Yeah I watched this when trying to figure it out. It didn't work for me. Even pressing it quickly yields no results. I'll probably try for codes tomorrow.

Mine definitely "beeps" after the number, i.e M next 1 = beep

Is the passenger seat behaving similarly?

Have you tried the following? https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...ml#post5576545

I'm unsure. I'm a passenger in the vehicle since I'm not the owner, but I'm travelling in it as much as they are. Seats function completely fine except for the fact that new settings in the memory function just simply don't save.

I haven't tried what that post says, but the currently saved memory settings all still work. Actually attempting to overwrite them with new ones does nothing, instead just trying to return to a saved position when one is pressed.

In my vehicle, I press and hold "M" and then, while holding "M" press the desired number. I get the beep feedback and the new positions are stored. Is that the method you tried but fails to work for you??
