Oil Cooler Leak Question

ok so i noticed a small drip coming from the bottom of the oil cooler, I'm pretty sure its just cause the gasket needs changing, the drip isn't bad from what I can see but I wont be able to change gasket for a little while so I'm wondering if for now it would be ok to use that Permatex gasket maker stuff as a temp fix since i could just apply it around oil cooler seal, do you think this would be ok or is there some reason I'm missing i shouldn't do it.

permatex or...

you know by the time you seal enough engine leaks, what's left of the old heat echanger will burst under pressure - This will be a bad day.

Why not do a little preventative maintenance:
- heat exchanger
- coolant flush
- PCV kit to manage blowby pressure
- (thermostat, ....)
