MB Motorola V60
I am posting here because I've noticed a lot of new E class owners have the integrated OEM motorola phones installed in their cars. In any event, here's my question:
Do your radios display some sort of alert icon if you have received a voicemail? (such as a little "envelope" icon)
I have a 2005 C Class with the MB V60 and have noticed that, while there is an "envelope" icon on the radio display, it has never lit up when I have a new voicemail (in fact it has never lit up at all). I'm trying to figure out if that "envelope" icon is a symbol for something else or, if it is indeed a new voicemail message alert, maybe it is not supported by the V60 motorola phone.
The most I get in terms of alerts (at least as the radio display is concerned) is a "missed call" alert that displays as "1 Call" or "2 Calls," etc.
TIA,
Martin-

I have an '03 E500 with integrated V60. The little envelope does not lite up. It appears next to the signal strength bars when a message is in the mailbox. When you listen to your messages or delete them it goes away. It will reappear when a new message arrives.

In my 2004 E55 with COMAND, there are two small envelopes, one for voice mail and one for text messages (SMS), they both work.
Yes... as above. It doesn't look "exactly" like an envelope. Mine was lit for days before I figured it out, since I never set up voice mail on the number in the car.
Turns out it was someones mother who left a msg about coming over as a surprise that morning to clean up her sons apartment. Hope she didn't have a key!!

Me too. I get an icon for voicemail and a different icon for SMS. Both are to the left of the signal strength bars. You can select the SMS soft key and read the message on the Command display. Can't reply from Command, however. At least, I can't find a way to do it. I'm using a v60 from a 2002 ML500.

Its the same icon that appears on the phone itself when you have a voice mail msg. Its immediately to the left of the signal streingth bars on the lower right of your comand display.

Lucky ones
You guys are lucky. Apparently the envelope icon thingie for voicemessage alert is not available for the 2005 C-Class, even though if you look closely, you can see the led display in my head unit does support it, even though it does not lit up.
I wonder if it is a software thing?

Picture Of Icon
Would one of you be so kind to take a pic of the "new message waiting" (lit up) on your head unit display? I want to show it to the dealer when I bring the car in to have this and my Sirius antenna system checked in.
Thanks in advance!

One pic shows the voice mail icon, and one shows the voice mail icon AND the text message icon. When a new text message arrives, the SMS soft key is activated. These are shots of my '05 E320 COMAND. Sorry for how big the pics are...still learning this stuff!

Strange, I have the MB v60, and the only way I see any voice mail, text messages is when I flip open the phone to see the icons on the phone unit, not on the COMMAND screen.

Paulhu,
See my post on the W203 C Class forum; According to Scorchie, you may have to have your head unit (or Comand unit, in your case) "version coded" to get these features to display!

V60 and 05 MOST
Very frustrating indeed.
Clearly, my MB V60 Verizon works with the 2005 C Class system which is MOST. Unless the MOST system for the C and E classes is different, then I see no reason why the V60 would work with the C Class but not the E Class. Sounds like the dealer may not know what they're talking about which, of course, should not surprise anyone.
In fact, my V60 is not even a "2005" model but rather, an older "2003" model that I kept when I traded my cellphone equipped 2003 C240 for a 2005 C230K.
Good luck and thanks again for the pics.

My dealer now claims that MBUSA has told them that the v60 will not work with the '05 MOST system and I must wait for a v710, which is expected in December! Very frustrating!
The microphone in the W211 is a bit differen than earlier models; it is its own component on the MOST bus. If the version coding is not correct, the microphone may not be "seen" by the phone controller.
I am not certain if the MOST-based controller for the C-class is the same one as on the W211; I have been trying to get that information.

Good news for me is that I have been using the MB v60s since August, and they told me that when the v710 arrives, I can keep the v60 and cradle for no charge. I think that once they resolve the microphone issue, the v710 and the v60 will work (and the VCM). We'll see...in December. I have learned in this thread that the v60 does work in the '05 C-Class MOST.
The dealership should swap in a non-VCM microphone controller to see if the VCM is the cause of the problem. We have a spare microphone controller on the shelf to use for testing because this sort of problem is not that uncommon!

Thanks for the tip, Scorchie! I'll make some calls on Monday to the dealership. They have basically indicated that they don't want to work on the issue anymore until the v710 arrives, but this advice may give them something to think about.
Thanks again!
