I had a P2004 0521 DTC code which indicated that the intake manifold flap runner was broken. I ordered a replacement:
The mechanic took out the intake and removed the old part. However, we discovered that the center bolt doesn't fit in the replacement part. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Is there a replacement part you recommend?

The most common advice in this forum is to replace the manifold, DO NOT use a stronger lever mechanism. It is a mechanical fuse, i.e. once the internals friction is large it breaks; otherwise the internal plastic parts may break and get inside the cylinder 
A $600+ fix may become a $$$ fix for top of the engine, or whole engine. Your choice.

It's basically a short term fix. If you're getting rid of the car in a few months, then those lever fixes will work. You should also see how easy it is to move the flaps. You should also change out the oil separator/breather cover as when those go bad, more oil gets into the intake instead of fumes and that's what gums up the flaps. Eventually more oil coats the flaps and it gets harder and harder to move and the lever breaks. When you replace the lever, then you're forcing the flaps more and more and eventually the flaps will break off and land inside the engine causing more damage than just replacing the entire intake manifold. You can get the Pierburg manifold which FCPEuro sells and has a lifetime warranty. The official MB part is more and basically the same Pierburg but with MB logos.

Here are the parts: oil separator-related parts and the intake. As @cetialpha5 mentioned, the breather/centrifuge is the commonly known failure point.

I ordered everything either from eEuroparts or dealer. It was $540 in damage after shipping and taxes. I did confirm with eEuroparts that parts are genuine. Thanks again for all your help. I'll post when everything is installed.
