Cool new feature in car "Tunnel" mode

I just saw that most US E classes ( I have no idea about the European ones) have this "TUNNEL" feature. I did not read this in the manual.

If you have your windows and sunroof open and you want to close them all at once, like if you were going in a tunnel, all you have to do is press and hold the recirculated air button ont he AC control. Then, if you press it and hold it again, it will open everything back to where it was.

I saw this in an obsccure place on the MBUSA website. I did not find it in my car's manual. I really like it when I find these kinds of features. ANyone have any other ones like this?

just FYI

I have this in my 03' and also had it in my 2000 S430. I'm pretty sure it's in the manual, but you are right that it is a cool gadget. I never use it but it's fun to show friends.

I use the 'tunnel' feature a lot at this time of year when we have nice weather here in Virginia. It's a lot easier to hit the Recirc or Charcoal Filter button to close sunroof & windows up when I park the car rather than hitting all the individual buttons.

These are the things that make a Mercedes a Mercedes

I just bought this 2004 to replace my 1991 300E. I keep cars for a real long time. I am sure that my 1991 did not have it.

I did not find it in the AC/climate control part of the manual. It might be in the power windows part though.

When I lived in Europe, my MB there had front power windows and a power sunroof, but it they are so cheap over there that rear power windows was extra and had to be special ordered along with AC and alloy wheels. So I imagine that that feature exists if the European model has all the power windows and stuff.

I know that recently, the list of standard options is much greater over there.

If anyone knows about other features like this, please mention them. They are fun to show people.

It's in my 2003 manual.

It's been in many Mercedes since 2001.

It's even been discussed in these forums, I think!
