Just a quick question to all. . . Brakes

Can you post a reply if your brakes (pads and rotors or just pads) have lasted more than 25K miles on your car? All I am hearing is that they are going bad by 20K. That sounds very surprising. Also, please specify what engine you have and if you use the brakes a bit more than usual. Are your rear brakes also wearing out at about the same rate because the SBC is putting more pressure to them?????

Just to know and get an idea,

Steve Aguirre

I know these cars are pretty new, but I am sure some people are putting on the miles.

E55 over here, and although only 15K on the miles, no sign of pad wear.

E500

E500, 21.000 miles and they are starting to feel worn down, service D+ is also showing. I drive in town a lot, though (frequent braking)

This is the thing about soft pads, they stop great but high wear..

My 2003 E500 with 30,000 kilometres (18,600 miles) developed some steering wheel vibration when I apply brakes.

Dealer decided that the brakes had to be replaced - all four brake pads and rotors - four weeks after 'wear and tear' warranty expired.

charged me for only two brake jobs - out of good will since I went to them with squealing brakes complaint while still in 'wear and tear' warranty period and they 'fixed' it.

I bought the car used - drove only 6,000 kilometres (15,000 miles) - use the brakes very gently (except in emergency of course). Don't know driving habits of previous owner.

A lot of suburban driving, with a lot of stop and go, but only got about 18K or so.

half city, half highway. 23K miles, just got the warning sign on my dash for brakes. I drive it relatively easy (compared to my mother) most of the time. No accelerating to a stoplight like most soccer moms around here.

I couldn't tell you if it was for front or rear, tho most say the rears go first. ?

25,500 and still going strong ("03 E500). I'm going to replace them in about 30 days anyway!

was '03 E320 - now - '04 S4
29K - a quick visual says pads are low but still have life. No brake wear indicator yet (although I've had a bunch of other brake warnings in the MFD )
