W211 shifting issue

W211 shifting issue
Hello. I’m having issues with my w211 (2005 e320) would like to sort them out here’s a run down
prior owner ( I know them) took it to mechanic since car wouldn’t shift apparently and they did a trans flush and conductor plate which didn’t fix the shifting issues before trading it into a car dealer I work at where I bought the car.
Car wouldn’t shift turns out to be car won’t shift out of 2 when the cluster doesn’t say D and C/S next to the miles otherwise it shifts fine and when those aren’t there and goes the the gears in the cluster. When the car is having the shifting issue it also won’t allow the shifter to be put back in park/reverse until you turn the car off then it goes into those gears again no problem. Along with that the car is showing a code for transmission range.I believe it’s a shifter issues and I’ve already ordered one from my local MB dealer but would like second opinions. thanks.

got locked out of the email for a sec, only error code is transmission range sensor from what i remember ill have it scanned again when i get into work

I had same issues it turns out my oil cooler sealed failed in rad and leaked. Coolant into gearbox which was cause of this issue
