Broken down in France - help!
I have had it for 2 years and it has been trouble free and provided superb service.
Yesterday in a small village in France we stopped to give way and the car stalled and would not restart.
On getting out of the car there was a lake of diesel at the rear of the car (the front /engine dry) and much dripping of diesel around the rear passenger wheel arch. Obviously obscured by the under covers.
any ideas what might have happened?
have had the car recovered to a garage in a town not far from us but they won’t get chance to investigate till Monday. And I don’t know whether they know anything about MB either!
any help would be much appreciated!
many thanks in advance, Mark
I was more concerned about something at the engine - like a seized fuel pump backing up and causing a leak towards the tank?
Could that happen?
But again, I checked the underside of the engine - dry - but the diesel was pouring out of the rear near just ahead of the arch and maybe ahead under the (UK) front passenger side also.

car has been seen by the garage and apparently it required a new rubber hose somewhere near the fuel tank.
ready for collection tomorrow & 133€ which is a major relief / end of worrying about how many thousands to repair..
weather is beautiful down south if France so a few more days on the beach before the 650 mile trip back to UK via the tunnel.
many thanks to all those who helped me in the meantime with encouraging words - much appreciated!
Mark
