2009 E320 Bluetec (CDI) speedometer issue

Hello to All,

It’s my first post. Did not find anywhere an issue like mine.
Here it is…
My 2009 E320 Bluetec was in a shop for 5 weeks for an oil leak in the front of the engine. When I picked up the car there were multiple issues, which I solved, except one. The speedometer was going up after I started driving, showing a maximum speed of 14-15 MPH regardless of the actual speed. The digital speed matched what the “hand” was showing. Everything else was working perfectly, including the cruise control speed. I drove the car like that for a couple of weeks, but didn’t feel comfortable, so the mechanic who worked on the car installed an older E63 instrument cluster. Everything was working fine, including the displayed actual speeds, except no mileage shown (expected). My dealership wanted $2,300 plus tax for a new cluster, I tried to find another solution. I bought from eBay a used cluster removed from a car like mine, same part number. I replaced the big circuit board on the bought instrument cluster with the one from mine. I thought it would work. Installed it in the car and when I started the engine everything looked fine, including the correct mileages displayed. However, my joy was short lived. I took the car for a test drive and to my surprise again the shown speeds would not go over 14-15 MPH. I ran diagnostics with a Launch scanner and no code came up. I am at a loss. Could the issue be on the circuit board?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, you've done what you could! This reads like you got a short straw.

Cars do not tolerate cluster transplantations casually. Using the original is a good start.

Your Launch scanner says nothing so you are gonna need to go fish around for your own data.

Can you read the cluster module?
Can you read all 4 wheel speeds?
