Just wondering......CL500 vs E500...price diff.

Just wondering......CL500 vs E500...price diff.

Why does a CL500 cost almost 95k whereas an E500 costs just 58k (MSRP). CL is not particularly bigger or higher performance than the E (or is it?).

more standard options, ABC suspension instead of Airmatic, (fully adaptable versus slightly adaptable), but more than anything else, more prestige.. has that "screw you, I have a big fat MB coupe" effect. Some people hate them, I really like them. Interior is slightly dated tho. 03 had a navi update/facelift. You can get a used one for around 65, for example an 03 w/amg package, etc. looks sharp. they are heavier than an E tho.

So the CLS has ABC instead of Airmatic? I'm somewhat surprised as they are built on almost the same platform?

CL has ABC, CLS has Airmatic, as do it's E-class brethren.

The CL has a lot of tech ( or really most of the same tech) that the S class has. Many of these are subtle but add up to a more luxurious car. That doesn't mean better performance. In addition to ABC there are build issues that make the car more quiet.

the doors on the CL are pretty tech too, as they pull forward to make more room as you open the door. i liked taht feature, since the doors are gargantuan.
