Deck Lid Relaed Electrical Problem
I have a 2006 (6/05 build) E 320 CDI.
I placed two crates in the trunk 10 # and 35 # respectively, and now the deck lid will not release unless I use the key.
The manual release will not work unless I use the key, the electronic release. both on the key and in the driver door will not function now.
The third brake light, both license plate lights as well as the interior trunk light do not work.
I believe it is a fuse or a relay. have checked most of the fuses from the trunk up to the left side of the dashboard area and they appear to be good. I cannot find a fuse or relay diagram that labels the failed electronics I am experiencing related to the deck lid..
Help would be appreciated!

What Heguli said. IIRC the Left hinge has a plastic conduit that houses a bundle of wires that by now have broken/cracked insulation and likely a wire or two that isn't in one piece any longer. Again, if I remember correctly, the brown wire is ground and I bet it is broken.

I did take a quick look at that bundle and did not notice anything. I will disassemble again and check closely.
I may have stressed the wire when I put the lighter crate full forward in the driver's side of the trunk.
Does anyone know which fuse panel would hold what amp fuse? Position # of same?
Thank You !!!

I had time today to remove the left side trunk panel and look at the wiring per the recommendation of Heguli and rapidoxidation. Spot on.
The ground, brown, wire had been butt spliced and came apart. I used a new butt of better quality and repaired the brown wire and re taped the bundle. The other wires in the bundle looked good .
The trunk interior lights now work. However, neither the license plate lights nor the power trunk release work. The manual release still does not work.
I am guessing there is a fuse or a relay responsible for the electronic trunk release? I have looked on the supplied fuse breakdowns ( bbirdwell Thank You!) and cannot see anything marked for those areas.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

The license plate lights now function.
Neither the power trunk release with the key fob, the switch for the trunk release in the driver's door nor the manual release above the license plat in the deck lid still do not work.
I am guessing there is a fuse or a relay responsible for the electronic as well as the manual trunk release? I have looked at the fuse and relay diagrams for all fuse boxes and see nothing labeled for that area specifically.
Does anyone have any information as to what relay, wire or fuse might be causing this problem?
