Cool W211 SCN Coding (variant coding) EGS52

Due to a fault in the differential of the W211, I replaced it with a different differential.

As the new differential does not come from the same, but a similar engine variant, the sensor system is now triggering an error message stating "gearbox slip" and the car is entering mechanical emergency mode.

This is a consequence of the fact that my differential gear ratio has now changed from the original 3.46 to 3.67 or 3.27.

I have used the Vediamo 4 to read the code string (SCN coding) of my EGS52 control unit.

Codestring (in decimal, Vediamo use this format):
098 103 052 055 010 002 000 002 000 000 006 005 003 004 000 002 001 001 000 000 000 001 000 002 000 002 000 000 027 004 132 013 232 003 232 003 198 007 029 000 024 051
Codestring (in hex):
62 67 34 37 0A 02 00 02 00 00 06 05 03 04 00 02 01 01 00 00 00 01 00 02 00 02 00 00 1B 04 84 0D E8 03 E8 03 C6 07 1D 00 18 33
Perhaps someone could help me adjust the byte string for the differential gear ratio 3.67 and for 3.27, both, and output this for me?

Let me take a look tonight. I am pretty sure I know how to do it in Xentry, not sure about Vediamo. Also, I think the cluster will need that value changed as well to show proper speed and calculate distance.

I would really appreciate any feedback on this.

I don't have Xentry; I only have Vediamo.
I have to say that I have, for now, only a solution for this EGS52, but I’m not 100% sure if it’s correct or if it actually works. When programming things I’m not familiar with right away, I’ve learned to be careful. Because you often only get one chance.

I think there are for EGS52 four bits that need to be changed. Two of these relate to the differential gear ratio, and two to the checksum of the whole bit string.

Further changes may be necessary in the central gateway (CGW) and the instrument cluster (KI). But I haven't looked into it that deeply yet. So these are just assumptions at this point.

I have access to this, as seen in the video. I can generate a string and send it over. See if you think that will work. Interesting bit starts at 2:14.

Try those,

3.67

If needed, we can add Mode 'M" as well

¡Muchas gracias! You’ve confirmed my solution. All 4 bits match. :-)

I’ve applied the solution and, lo and behold, there are no more errors in the memory.
I’ll keep an eye on things, though. Perhaps a change still needs to be made in the cluster and the ESP. Maybe someone has experience of whether this also needs adjusting there when changing the differential.

Perhaps others can use this as a reference if they face the same problem after changing the differential...
Parts for older vehicles are becoming increasingly hard to come by, mainly because there are so many different models (i.e. differential gear ratios).

Even though there aren't any errors in the error memory at the moment, I'm still not sure if I need to make any adjustments to the differential gear ratio in the ESP, central gateway, and command cluster.

Does anyone know if something like a differential gear ratio is stored as a variable there? Maybe someone can figure that out from Xentry/DAS?

As I said before, I am pretty certain there is. Noticed it a few days ago when I went in the cluster settings with Xentry. Does it display the correct speed?

Are you sure you saw that with a 5G (EGS52) automatic transmission as well? I took a quick look at the .cbf files for the ESP, command cluster, and central gateway, and I can't find any variable related to the differential gear ratio. I could be completely wrong, and this variable might only appear when connected to the vehicle.

I agree with @trigital , my mistake. I looked again through the settings, nothing in the IC, only the transmission module.
