E500 Pewter Metallic

I 'm looking to buy a 2005 E500 in Brilliant Silver, but none to be found on the West Coast. The local dealer has 3 in Pewter. Anybody got pics of a Pewter E500? What do you think of that color?

thanks..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but we chose Pewter over Silver. First of all, everybody has Silver. Secondly, Pewter changes color depending on the light and has an elegant look to us. I think the only question is whether to get Pewter with Charcoal or Stone interior. Charcoal is more practical with the current (can I say cheaper) leather then Stone but if I had it to do over again, I'd get Pewter/Stone.

BTW, I'm not the only one on the street with a Pewter W211. The other guy has Pewter/Stone.

Pewter is nice, but its not Billiant silver.... Don't settle for a color your really not interested in or you will regret it every time you see a brilliant silver car.... Tell your dealer to keep looking or maybe you should consider ordering a car you really want.

E500

Found a dealer that has a Brilliant Silver 05 e500. Hopefully close the deal today. Is 5k off MRSP a good discount for the Bay Area? Look foward to join the chat on this board.

thanks...

As BudC said, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder". My wife and I wanted brilliant silver/charcoal but the dealer made such a deal on the pewter/ash that we could not pass it up. We recent had the car in for service and had a brilliant silver/charcoal E500 as a loaner. After a little over a year with our car, both of us now think our pewter/ash car is a much better color combination. We have complained about the ash getting dirty too quickly but feel it is worth the extra effort to keep it looking nice. Maybe we have just gotten used to it but we would not change now.

However, that said, the real thing is what makes you happy. Go for what you want, not what someone else recommends.

Hubby has Pewter/Stone (pic in sig)

Very elegant color combo, IMHO. Pewter hides dirt very well. The stone interior, though, gets dirty if you just look at it funny.

Pewter or Silver

We just got our 2005 E500 and too were torn with the silver pewter dilemma. We ended up going with Pewter Charcoal combo and love it. I will try and snap some pics this afternoon. The only reason we didn't go with Silver is my father in law to be bought the silver ash one the same afternoon. I like silver but have kind of reserved it for AMG cars. Once I find some 19's and lower it then the car will be perfect.
I am very happy with the color and think it was a good choice for us.

Mike

I got Silver because I love it and my CLK was also silver but after seeing a few Pewters around I am really likeing it a lot. If I had to do it over again I think I may have gone with Pewter.

You might want to do a search on Neveda Jack. His W211 is Pewter.

Lionhead,

I guess you just recently updated your signature picture. Seeing it brings up a question: Do you get a "fleet discount" at your MB dealer? Usually, if you have more than 2 cars you can negotiate a discounted service rate. I am not joking, a lot of other brands do it, so MB might.

Stupid quote: "Why is it that all the people in low-income housing have all the nice cars?" You should post this under your picture (as a joke of course).

Just a stupid thought,

Steve A.

I like that quote...pretty good. Our dealer has treated us very well over the years but now with new ownership, things have changed and might have to find a new dealer for the next purchase. We also have a '85 300SD not worth showing...LOL. But the car runs like a champ with over 210,000 miles. Recently with the cold spell here Chi-Town the 300SD (Diesel) wouldn't start and forgot to plug in the block heater. Luckly, the new breed of diesel doesn't have this problem. Sorry to hijack your post yahooe500. Now back to your original question about Pewter.

I was looking at a pewter E320 today, I really like the color, could have been the lighting, but it is much nicer then plain, boring brilliant silver.

I'd bet 75% of the E's that have been built for the US market are Brilliant Silver! (Of course that's because most of the E class colors for you to choose from are variations of the color silver.)
