What were you quoted for SAT dealer install?
Have been thinking of getting SAT radio installed. I seem to remember seeing some prices here but can't find the thread. Waiting for final number from dealer but they're saying between $800-900.
On another note saw in today's paper an article on SAT radio and the growth expectations manufacturers have for it this year. Ford will be offering SAT for $150, If I read correctly!! From the factory MB charges over $600 right?

email from the dealer:
Per your request, for parts/installation for the Serius radio for your E320
CDI will run $796.45.
I'm sure this is for the box on the deck lid install.

850 for the under the rear package shelf install. I've had it for six months and reception is excellent.
Do not ever check out other manufacturers prices; it's almost always depressing, but one of the prices to pay for that star. there's no end to the rip-offs higher end car owners expose themselves to probably the peak one being the ferrarri 6000 routine tune up.

I got Sirius installed in my 2004 E320 at my local dealer (Escondido, CA, USA) last Friday. It came to $1183.00. It took about 4 hours. They put a small Terk antenna just forward of the GPS antenna. If the large trunk lid antenna was the only option, I would have passed. So far it's great.

I was quoted around $1150 here in Indy from World Wide Motors. They also insisted that the middle of the trunk lid install was the only possible way to install the antenna. Going over there here in a few minutes to have it installed. But only after I give them a little education about using there imagination on finding an alternative placement for that ugly antenna....and informing them that if there's as much as a dent on my trunk lid they'll be replacing it. But yeah, $1150!!!! Why didn't I buy a different a BMW again?

Trust me. As the 1st guy to have Sirius OEM dealer installed in an '04 E on this board, in no time flat you will not "see" the antenna on the trunk. Would it be nicer if we could paint them Body Color? Yes!... but having Satellite in the car is AWESOME! Your next car will no doubt have a smaller, less conspicuous, factory mounted antenna. (Just look at the progress GM has made with the ones on the 02-05 Caddys) The 1st year ones looked like upside down pistol grips!
Yes, having NO visible antenna is nicer, and I suppose if MB told me I could go get the antenna painted Pewter to match with no loss in performance, I would do it... but having the satellite is where its at! The antenna is really so silly a concern. we are just "early adopters" of the technology... and we are keeping the car "stock" electronically speaking to avoid "pass the blame" games at the dealer when the Sat/Comand needs service. And as much as I love the car, it is no stranger to the service department. Electrical/Computer design gremlins abound! They pop in, pop on & then usually pop away...Pooof! ...on the way to the dealer for a checkup.
Everything electronic gets smaller every year. Except Boom Boxes!
