Quickparc question
Hi again people.
I am thinking of getting the Quickparc which is the retrofitted parking sensors.'Quickparc gives you an audible alarm when you are reversing close to a stationary vehicle or object, helping you to park quickly and safely in awkward situations'. Cost = £493 + fitting charges. Kit includes rear holder, warning element and end strip for rear bumper.
Has anyone out there got or used one before? If so would you recommend?

Sounds like a rear-only version of the option known as "Parktronic" in North America:

I don't have any experience with Parktronic, but you might search this forum under that name for threads discussing it.

Mark,
I have sent an e-mail to Steve already. Hoping to hear from Steve on this.
BTW, does it work with the information area in the center of speedometer or it has separate indicator? In addition, did you replace the bumper to install this?
Cheers,
Heejin

No I did not have the Quickpark fitted as I was made to believe that it was a stick-on sensor jobbie.
Anyway I bought an aftermarket one :

but then again I never bothered to fit it.
Good luck.

Parktronic does not work with the information area. It has it's own displays on the dash and rear. Bumper replacement on a 211 is not necessary. Just the impact strips that hold the sensors.

The Parktronic displays are dark plastic LED strips. The front display is located in the center of the dash just behind the windshield, the rear one is on the headliner , visible in the inside rearview mirror. I'd guess the windshield one is a half inch high by five inches wide with tapered ends.
They work like this... The closer you get to an object, the more Yellow LEDs light up (in pairs starting one each from the far right & left sides of the displays), untill you get real close and the final 2 pairs to light are in Red.
The LED array looks like this when you are too close to the object while parking.
........ ........
My own personal experience is that the LED's start to come on when you are already too close to the object, and don't increase in number untill you are too close for comfort. The reds come on when you are uncomfortably close. I've never hit anything, but I think 10 inches is too close to a guard rail or a bumper for a red LED warning when body work is so expensive... but at 57, I'm an Old Fart & wouldn't order a car without parking sensors any more.

Hi there. We bought a used W211 wagon with what I think has Quickparc. It was installed after the original purchase. It does not come with any visual aids like LEDs, just a really unhappy beeping sound (pitch sometimes varies). It certainly has helped out, but is it worth 500+ pounds? Only if it saves you from what will certainly be expensive body work!
