W212 E63 AMG Official Pictures
Here are the official pics from the W212 E63 AMG. Enjoy!
Article from CAR Magazine:
So this Mercedes E63 AMG has the 6.2-litre V8, right?
Right, with 518bhp and 465lb ft, enough to match up with the XFR's 503bhp and 461lb ft. The engine is in the same state of tune that you’ll find in the SL63 AMG, and the drop-top also donates its seven-speed automatic which features a wet clutch rather than the tradtional torque convertor so the gearbox is more efficient and more responsive.
The seven-speed ‘box can also blip the throttle on downshifts, swap the cogs in 100 milliseconds, and it has a launch control function. It’s enough for the E63 to each 62mph in 4.5 seconds, but as ever it hits a 155mph limiter if you keep your foot planted.
But Merc is more proud of the improved fuel consumption figure, claiming the E63 is now nearly 12% more economical thanks to an on-demand fuel system and energy recupertion under braking. Pity the extra 12% still only equates to 22.4mpg, but that is better than every other 500bhp super-saloon.
The E63 also features a new 56mm wider front axle with steel spring struts, the back has an AMG-tweaked air-suspended rear and there’s also AMG’s Ride Control sports suspension system with electronically controlled dampers with Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus modes.
Anything else?
Of course. There’s a more direct steering set-up, a three-stage ESP system, 18-inch wheels, a bulging bodykit, LED daytime headlights and sports seats covered in Nappa leather.
And if you want more then you can spec the Performance Package that comes with 19-inch wheels, stiffer suspension, a proper locking rear differential and a little lip spoiler on the boot.

Rear and side profiles don't look right IMO, such a conservatively and squarely designed car, doesn't flow too well with the menacing AMG bodywork IMO.... However said AMG bodywork looks magnificent, and the front clip of the car, fenders onward, looks badass.

Clanosiris, I'm right there with ya. The taillights are TERRIBLE, and the back looks sooooo squared off, and dare I say it, a bit of Hyundai Sonata to the whole thing. I wasn't a fan of the S-Class redesign, but a good 6 months in, I really warmed to it. Something tells me we'll feel the same with the E.
But oy, it ain't graceful.

I still think the S is a bit sloppy in some areas, but when I first saw it I was impressed with its positive aesthetics right away, just as I was with the C-Class.
The GLK and E-Class.... Not so much.

TOTALLY agree about the GLK. They are a little out of proportion. Huge rims, narrow/tall body, lotsa glass.
I think the C is by far their biggest recent homerun.

With he C-Class they just nailed it, no disproportionate or gimmicky/odd areas. I'm losing confidence more and more in their design team for this generation.

well i give an A+ for the specs,
but for the design I need time to accept it... the back is not that much agressive

Both AMG from this site. Question is, which one is real? I'm not sure where the shift knob goes on the other ones. Or this is another option?

Totally agree that MB got it exactly right with the C-Class exterior and that is about it, maybe with the S-Class also except the trunk still bothers me as the clamshell look IMO will never look classy, just clunky and different. People who say the clamshell look is nice probably like it because it is incorporated into only the highend cars like the S and 7series. The New E-class AMG or not just does not look as stylish timeless as the current 211. When I first lay my eyes on a car and then I need to think that the look may need sometime for me to like it then it is not that I like it, its just that I will settle. For example when you look at a lambo or Ferrari or a hot chick you don't say just wait and let the looks grow you just say WOW! And IMO the 212 does not make me say WOW instantly.Only the front end is mildly appealing. I totally agree with K-A.

With the S, it's so bitter-sweet for me, some elements I drool over, then some just look clumsily designed, like the trunk-lid (the clam-shell looks 15 minutes of fame are already about over, the 7 did away with it, and now sub $20K cars have it, like the Camry), the ginormous fender flares (will look foolish in 10 years IMO), and the way the tail lights and headlights integrate with their respective fenders/panels, just doesn't work and looks clunky.
Also with the S's interior, very nice in some areas, then too sparse in others, the whole middle console with the giant upper one looks too bare, no wood anywhere around them (the face-lift fixed this with the lower console getting wooden treatment). The steering wheel also IMO just looks odd.
Right now my favourite new design M-B would have to be the CL. As it does look a bit boring and generic, at least if flows nice, it lacks the overall class and artful design the last generation had though, especially for when they first hit the streets.

Your post is like me talking to myself. haha Your opinion about the S-Class is exactly what I am thinking about it's sparseness in the console and the lack of wood does not say luxury to me.
But for me if I had to pick a nice design besides the 211 is the CLS. Even though the CL is not clunky but IMO a two door car should never be as big as the CL.

Eh, i have to agree on the sides and rear. It looks as if the rear was compressed from the sides and pulled upwards and back. +1 on the Sonata comparison. I don't see why they'd choose an indistinguishable style that is similar to hyundai/toyota/honda/etc.. The design will come back around after MB realizes this is the wrong idea and direction.
...anyways, just my 2 cents

The interior is sick, but the rear (quarter and back) is not in harmony with the rest. In my opinion the rounded headlights are better, but I guess that the new wave...

The term "not in harmony" I think is the quintessential description for the W212. So many aspects of it fulfill the term so heavily.

I think all the manufacturers these days are so concerned with Branding and standing out that they are going too far with the extreme design aspect that they have lost site of elegance. Sure you can do that with say the more hip C or 3 series which is marketed towards the younger crowd but with the 5 and E class it should look elegant and a little leading edge but not vice versa.
Currently I am looking to replace the E500 and so far I have the following 535 great engine but ugly design, A6 lovely design but weak engine choices, and then the E550 2010 not exactly ugly but not my cup of tea since I would in my opinion stepping back in design in interior and exterior. GS350 my father has that. So I really have no choice that I really would like. I guess may have to wait for the new 5 and A6 to take a look at my options. Yes I obviously have no manufacturer loyalty at all.

hey guys!
i'm from germany! some new e's are already driving around here.
the shiftknob is only in the 4 cyl version! in the 6 and 8 cyl version you have to look at the steering wheel. behind it you have a "gearshift-stick" (sry, dont know the right name in english! in germany you call it a "schalthebel am lenkrad"). you can also have the paddles an the steering wheel.
hope i could help!

It looks a little pieced together, and the front doesn't really match the rear. I think the new C class re-design was pretty good, but not too thrilled with this one.
