2010 E550 Sedan
New E550 2010 Owner
Purchased the E550 2010 in black, with black leather, black/ash dash, and black roof (pano), sport package, with parktronic, and P2.
It really think it is a wonderful car, inside and out, especially the ambient lighting (amber on black looks real space-age); but what's most amazing is how smooth, comfortable and confidence inspiring it feels (even on less than ideal road surfaces). The multi-countour drive dynamic seats are really fun.
Additionally, I really am amazed at the ease with which it imported my contacts (from my iphone) and integrates with it seamlessly for music & podcasts, not to mention the quick bluetooth connection that receives/delivers crystal clear voice.
As I am learning about all the features, I have since re-configured the 1) the windows to open/shut on one-touch, and 2) doors to lock/unlock only for the driver, unless I touch any of the other doors (which results in a global lock/unlock).
Have just a couple of questions:
1. Can I remove the start/stop engine button, if so how? can I just pull it off - don't want to break anything? I don't really need to but in the manual it states that after 72 hours, the key-less go feature is disengaged.
2. How do I know if the car is at "normal" height? if the red light is on, does it mean it is "raised" and when the red light is off (is it normal?).
Would appreciate if you have any thoughts on these two questions.
In summary, love how MB has executed the design, ergonomics, and technology in the car.

Congratulations on the car! I'm expecting mine the first week of December. It is a sport in Obsidien Black with Natural Beige.
In your message you mention multi countour drive dynamic seats. I thought only the drivers seat has that option. At least that's what they told me when I ordered my car a couple of weeks ago. I wanted it on both seats so if it is available I would certainly get it. Do you have that option on both front seats?

Thanks for clarifying it. I was hoping I was wrong and that the option was available for both seats. Doesn't really make sense why they would offer if for one and not the other - particularly if they offered them as separate options so people could get both, one or neither.
Anyway - enjoy the car!

Just to be certain, I'm asking for confirmation from my sales guy while there's still time to change the order. They have some "special order" options that aren't listed in the brochure or on-line like the heated steering wheel (which I got). I'm hoping that the DD passenger seat is on that list but I doubt it.

Not a MB (yet...)
From MBUSA (for the coupe) listed under the Appearance Package:
Pneumatically adjustable side bolsters, dual lumbar supports, and thigh extension for the driver provide an even greater degree of personalized comfort for driver and front passenger.

Yup - I saw it for the Coupe but can't find anything about Multi-contour passenger seat option for the sedan.

Clarification re: E-Class Seats
It is the W212 forum so I am assuming it is the Sedan but I can understand the confusion. For the sedan, the Multi-Contour Drive Dymanic (MCDD) seat w/ massage is only possible for the driver side. For the coupe, they are not available at all. However, regular multi-contour seats (no massage and no drive-dynamic function) for both driver and passenger are available for the coupe. The factory did not develop the MCDD seat for the passnger side for USA models so they are not ordersable even via the special request. It had something to do with the US specific weight sensing system on the passenger seat which determines the rate at which the passenger side airbag will deploy. That being said, the MCDD seat for the sedan is outstanding and realtively cheap so I would say it is a no-brainer to order.

Not available. Technically it should be possible given it is done on the coupe. However, it is not developed for USA and therefore they do not offer it. This is a different route than for the S-Class but then again they are very different cars / price points.

Thanks again. That's what I figured. Not that big a deal since I'm very seldom a passenger in my car except maybe on long trips where I break down and let my wife drive (grudgingly) but it would have been nice to have.

E550 Coupe!!!
As I am learning about all the features, I have since re-configured the 1) the windows to open/shut on one-touch,[/quote]
I just got my black/black E550 Coupe!!!! This car is unbelievable. Definitely the best all around car I have ever owned/driven (beat out in my experience: 993 Carrera, '98 vette, '04 M3, '01 M5, '07 E55 AMG, and other ancillary average vehicles).
The car is better than I imagined. It's fast and sexy and smart. The automatic headlights are unreal, you just leave them on and they adapt in 8 different ways to the road on their own. Unreal. How do you setup the windows for one touch open/shut?
I drove 3 ladies to an event (60mi roundtrip) and they were quite comfortable in the car and couldn't stop praising it -> back seat is terrific for a coupe according to them. They had plenty of room and enjoyed the panoramic views due to lack of B pillar and the clear roof.
If you get one, I highly recommend the appearance package -> for the 5 way air bolstered seats. Without this, I think the seats would be too firm.
Here are some pictures... (hopefully these attachments will load...)

The one-touch open/shut for windows can be configured when you hold the window-up button (in the up position) for one second after it comes down a bit when you push it up the first time. For the sedan, I did this for all four windows.

Just to note, there's no such thing as an '07 E55.
Car looks sharp, actually the first blacked out (black with black tints) I've seen of the Coupe, looks like it's the best color suited for the car, I keep seeing white and silver ones and they don't give that presence to the design that black does.

No prob.
I agree. I'd seen enough white and silver ones to just kinda put me off to the car, but I saw a black one drive by the other week, overall I was pleasantly surprised as to how well my eyes took to it, looked nice and "fancy".
I think the proportions and lines of this car really work best in black, I think it's something about how they contrast each other or something (if that makes sense). I usually don't even like black either. Either way, your car looks nice, clean, and sharp.

going for w212
European w212 can be equipped with Dynamic multi-contour seats for driver and front passenger.
Btw, i`ve seen on youtube video where these seats were installed on both passanger and driver places.
