Exclamation Atermarket wheels/tires and TPMS sensors

Hello All.

Have anybody put new wheels on 2010 E and how you guys solve TPMS problem ? Did you buy original sensors from MB, aftermarket sensors or just took sensors from original wheels ? I just got my new E second day and wanna get bigger rims, but don't know how TPMS system will work.
Another question - what about warranty when you put another rims.
And another one - Can you use staggered wheels with 4Matic ?

Thanks.
Will post pics later this week.

I am using mb tpms sensors on my aftermarket wheels and they fit fine and work fine. I negotiated it as part of my deal when I bought the car, as I called the parts dept and they wanted $175ea! You can always take the ones off of the stock wheels.

Don't think you can do staggered wheels on a 4matic, but I don't know for sure.

Tire Rack sells a set of 4 sensors for something like $225 which sounds like a bargain compared to what the stealership wants for them.

Logically, staggered fitment should be ok as long as overall diameter of chosen tires is the same.

Example... 235/30/20 and 285/25/20 will both have an overall diameter of 25.6 inches.

I thought so too, but if you read about those sensors you'll see it doen't work with MB system. MB works with, I think, Seamens sensors. I saw them on internet for $92 each.

I wanna put the same tire size, as E63 AMG has :
Front - 255/40-18
Rear - 285/35-18

And wheels for those tires will have the same AMG size
Front 18 x 8.5
Rear 18 x 9.0

Can I do it for regular 4Matic car or not ? How to find it out ?
Anybody knows ?
Thanks.

TPMS - Use the ones that the car came with originally. They will fit on most of the aftermarket wheels. Or pay a bunch and buy new ones. You have to make sure they are the correct TPMS for your car year/model. (ie. W211 TPMS will NOT work on your W212)

CAN YOU USE STAGGERED WHEELS WITH 4MATIC? - Of course you can. Of course the dealer does not recommend this. But if I had a 4matic, I would stagger the wheels. Just get close to the same diameter size as mentioned in a previous post.

Guys.

Thanks for replies, but this thread is 2 years old. The case is closed long time ago.

End up buying nothing, but tire and wheel insurance for stock set up. I thought it will be too much for leased car in NY City. Since that time I changed 1 rim and three tires, so insurance is paid off already.
