E550 windshield
car is 2 days old with 400 miles and a rock flips up and chips the windshield. Did not seem like a big rock or loud crack. Its also a small chip so really not a big deal....but windshield does seem very thin compared to my last BMW. Has anyone else noticed this or had their windshield chip/crack yet?

Unfortunately window chips can happen on any car regardless of the manufacturer. (It's glass.)
However if you don't wait to long you can call a windowshield repair place and they can fill the chip/crack with some kind of clear epoxy. This will reduce the annonyance of seeing the chip/crack and stop it from growing. Its ussually about $60-75. Don't wait to long otherwise dirt will get trapped in there.
Way cheaper that $1000+ for a new windshield.

Yes. Mercedes really dropped the ball here and decided to use thinner windshield glass on the new E. Fortunately, BMW is coming out with a new 5 series that is supposed to have significantly superior windshield glass. The new E is in so much trouble.

From what I've heard the W211 (pre-facelift) had the thickest windshield ever.
