paint chip help (please)
Ok, tonight my nine year-old daughter flung open the door of my wife's Lexus and nailed my 12 day old E350. No dent, but it chipped the paint on the line of the back passenger side door. The chip is ovoid in shape, is clear to the metal, and is 3x4 mm in its greatest dimension.
My question is can I fix this and make it look decent, or is this something that a body shop should do without telling me to have the whole door panel painted? I was thinking perhaps a paint tuochup pen w/ clearcoat pen, but I have never done this. I know the sites that sell these have some instructions, but the ones I read left me wondering just a bit. If it sounds like I am in a panic, it is because I am!
Anyway, if there is a knowledgeable poster out there who has done this and has made it look goo, then please either post a step-by-step or direct me to one. I'm gonna put a photo up to show you guys what it looks like. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try use touch up paint
First apply touch up paint on the spot (don't apply too much..just level it with paint around the area).. Then try to using 2000 grits (buy those in Automotive supply store like Kragen, Pepboy etc.) sand paper to remove the excessive touch up paing (put the sand paper into soapy water first), then apply rubbing compund and then polishing compound to bring back the shine. Search the web and you will find a lot of instruction of how to touch up an car.. My son took our car to an undergroudn garage and rub the car against a cement colume when he parked and it created all kind of scratch (but no dent) on the door.. And it took me an hour to rub out all the stuff to the point that the car is presentable now (i.e. when you look at the car next to it, you won't notice any scratch. But if I look closely on the surface, I stills see some faint scratch..) It is very scary to use sandpaper on paint for the first time but after using the rubbing compound and polishing compund, the paint look like new again.. Good luck.

LSU... Dont worry. More important, Dont panic ... as this can result in greater loss... Dont try to fix it even as you never did it before... this seems to be very small chip and the MB Garage will do it easily (I'm sure the costs are not much either). They have the technology so make use of it...!

Two things you could do:
1) go to you dealer and they can supply you with a touch up kit that has paint that matches your car and can show you how to do it and you can do it yourself.
2) you can go to your dealer and they will touch it up for you (for a fee).

I have done touch-up before, but your damage is bit too big for do-it-yourself. Most dealers don't do body work anymore. They send it out. No reason for you to go to MB dealer to have it done. Any good body shop can do it well and a lot cheaper, trust me. This is an easy job for body shops.
