Window Glare

Does anyone else with a 2010 E350 have a horrible glare on the drivers window that almost blocks your view of the side mirror? As I glance towards the side mirror on the drivers side, there is a strong reflection of the air vent directly next to the window???

I have E550 and have not noticed this being a problem. I have black leather interior and the darker of the wood options. What colors do you have?

I have Black leather Interior with Walnut Wood Trim. The vent literally looks like it is in the window. I'll have to attempt to get a picture of it. I can't look at the drivers side mirror without seeing the vent in front of it.

They went to a lot of chrome colored plastic with the W212 and the vents, too (the W211 was matte black vents), so I'm sure there will be more reflection at certain times of the day. Maybe just adjust your seat a little(?)

Ok now that you mentioned or and I looked for it I did see the glare. It just doesn't seem that strong for me though. It shows up clear but doesn't in any way obstruct my view of mirror. I do imagine, however, that sun angle and seat position could result in a very different experience. I am 6'2" and sit back/low.

I'll try sitting where you "Big boys" sit At 5'9, I'll assume that my seating position is more forward than you. It must just place the glare right in front of the mirror only from my angle. If you can, try squeezing forward a little and you will see how annoying the glare can be. Thanks for checking everyone!

Ok, tried to switch positions and still right in front of the mirror. This picture was taken 10 minutes ago:

You probably won't notice it after a while.

Yeah that's definitely due to the silver painted plastic vents and their positioning I'm sure. I'm sure it'll be easy to get used to, but those are things you'd expect M-B to rule out in the engineering/design process, as it's distracting to a degree.

In my Malibu there's a lot of bright chrome up top and high in the dash area, in sunlight it glares like crazy, drives me nuts. I always said "so typical of GM to be dumb enough to not consider this when designing the car, M-B would never do something like that".

At one time, only the handle was chromes and it looked in the mirror as if it was cracked. But it was only a small area.

One time I was deciding BMW or MB and I paid a lot of attention to the interior. I wanted something different. I decided on the MB with a grey interior, because it was grey on top of the dash too. Big mistake. Sometimes when the sun was at a certain angle it looked like dense fog outside. It was bad. Then I remembered that the BMW salesman had told me all BMW dash are black, regardless of the interior colour one chooses.

Glare is never a good idea.

Quite interesting that not many people are affected by this issue. We have had this car for 6 months and we can never get used to it. Personally I think it's quite dangerous that most of your side mirror is blocked by the VERY visible glare (as shown in the picture). Also this isn't just on the driver side, it's also on the passenger side.

You can order blind spot detection, so MB solved this problem, you do not need a use of mirrors.

wonder how much of a pain in the *** it would be to take the vents out and paint them?
and I am going to tint and hopefully avoid this problem......

good luck man

reflection

I noticed and was quite bothered by this during the first few months of having the car. Its a design flaw. However, I don't notice it at all anymore - must have simply gotten used to it.
