4MATIC steering wheel vibration is "normal?"

Hi, everyone:

I have *possible* problem that I couldn't find an answer to through searching Google and these forums, so I'd like to ask for your help:

I bought my first Mercedes, a new 2010 E350 4MATIC. I've put less than 700 miles on it and I'm noticing now that when I make very sharp turns in either direction (turning the wheel as far as it will go), the steering wheel vibrates slightly. The feeling is similar to (but weaker than) the vibrations caused by the "lane keeping assist" feature, but it occurs only when I make sharp turns. The behavior is consistent and I've only noticed it while driving at very low speeds (e.g., parking).

My service advisor says that this is normal behavior for the 4MATIC since power is being transferred to/from the front wheels, but I'd like a confirmation of that since the behavior seems pretty bizarre to me. Thanks for any help that you can provide!

I have a W211 4matic and I don't experience vibration at low speeds.

Our ML63 is 4Matic and does not have any of the issues you described.

I don't notice anything like that. Go to your dealer and try another car like yours. If you will feel the same - he's right, if not - tell him to fix it.

Another solution - avoid sharp turns ))))
GL.

I have a similar issue. When making sharp turns at low speeds, I can feel a 'hum' in the steering wheel. It is not as strong as a vibration, but there is something.

Fully cranking the wheel to it's bump stops, on any car, actually makes me cringe... so I naturally avoid it.

My 2010 E350 steering wheel doesn't vibrate when turning at low speeds. However, when I pull out of my garage or into a parking place -- and really have to crank the steering wheel -- I do notice a somewhat labored sound in the steering.

I believe that is normal. I think its the power steering servo working but don't quote me on that. All cars have that when you turn the steering wheel all the way left or right. At least all the cars I have driven

It's normal if it comes through mostly as noise. A groaning noise during parking maneuvers has been common in all mercedes I've driven. (e320 sedan, ml500 4matic, e350 4matic coupe + c300 4matic currently)

Vibrations are another story.

p.s. I miss the 5.0 v8
