2011 w212 4Matic wins over F10 xi
My wife ordered a w212 4Matic Saturday. She is trading in her 2007 BMW335i coupe. The Bimmer has been a great car and she seriously considered the 535ix but in the end she preferred the MB body style. Unfortunately her decision was based on pictures as opposed to the real thing. She thought the MB was too big at first but after reading the Motor Trend article she discovered the Bimmer was three in. longer and a 100 lbs heavier. Having driven my w212 on a recent trip and loving it plus the fact that the new F10 resembles the 3 series, made it an easy decision for her, to chose the W212. It certainly wasn't Motor Trend's first choice. She was not concerned in how fast she can take the next corner or how much time it takes to get to 100KPH. Her focus was on ride, comfort and appearance. In any event we expect a first week in July build with delivery early August. We should have confirmation on production dates in the next two weeks.
PS Keep in mind I did not say it was the better car or superior body style, only how she arrived at her decision , right or wrong.

I am trading in the exact same car, and picking up an E350 this month. I had the EXACT same agony in deciding over the MB versus the 535xi.
The main problem with the 535xi is that it will not arrive until Oct/Nov. Too long for me to wait. And I agree, the new 5 series (what I have seen of it) looks (un)remarkably like a large 3-series. Although I have a feeling it will look better in person.

Tell her the weirdo from California says "congratulations and enjoy!"
There are two sides of not waiting and experiencing the F10 in person:
1) the unknown by not waiting to really see and test drive the F10 when it arrives and always wondering what if you had waited.
2) getting what you do know now and are comfortable with (the W212) and pretending the F10 doesn't exist and just go on with life.
Anyway, they're only cars and there's always another day.
And another day for poutine and Molsons.

I'm selling my 335i coupe soon too..
I modded the crap out of the car (380whp) and loved it so much but I need an AWD sedan at this point...
Besides the fact that the E is NOT a fun car to drive, I love it over my 335.

2001 BMW 530i
I currently own an E39 5 Series and I'm leaning toward the E-Class myself for my next car even though I've been a BMW fan and owner for many years. I just love the aggressive look of the E-Class. Whereas, as far as I can tell, and as so many others have already said, the F-10 just looks like a bigger 3 Series which is really a pretty bland and boring design. As for it looking better in the flesh, well, who knows? We have only pictures of the F-10 to look at at this point. The E-Class is here and selling well and it looks good in the flesh AND in pictures.

I was at the Vancouver International Auto Show over the weekend and they had a 2011 550i there. I am just going to say, it looks amazing in person. Looks much bigger and has a better stance than the current 5 series and the level of detail/comfort is mind blowing.
They also had the E Cabriolet and the SLS AMG on display, also very nice

I was gonna say, lol ^^. Even though you like the E more, you would have (on a selfish level) benefited more had she gotten another car, now you have 2 of the same thing! Oh well, the lady's gotta enjoy her commutes too I guess. ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I wouldn't write the new 5 off until you guys see it FYI, I dunno what to really expect myself, but I've heard it definitely has a presence in person that immediately lets you know it is not a 3-Series, and has a lot of subtle detailing. As well, I heard from one source, that it has "the best interior I've ever sat in, extremely cozy". Another source said it looks "exactly" like it does in pics, and doesn't have the detailing of the 7.... So I dunno.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
My main "issue" with it is it's a BMW, the name just doesn't have much cache to me right now (thanks Bangle), and they are very plebeian around here, even more-so than M-B.

My wife likes the smooth ride of my E350 and wanted a four door car. Her Bimmer has the sports package and those terrible runflat tires that give the car a really harsh ride on our pot hole riddled streets. I'm sure that was a consideration. Otherwise the little 335i has been an excelent car with above average reliability when compared to her previous 2003 CLK500. Unlike the car magazine writers, who are die hard BMW enthusiasts, I think the 535xi or the E350 4Matic are a toss up.

Yeah. Actually, per some articles, the new F10 has disappointed some purists who want that harder ride, apparently it's more isolated, and coddling, probably more M-B like.
If you could post any impressions regarding any differences in the '11 and '10 W212's that'd be great. Curious to know if M-B improves or decontents anything, or sneaks any little things in or out, etc.

Looks like there are a few of us then trading our 335i coupes for the E350 or 550. My Lease is up in October but the dealer is going to have me place my order next month and then get me out of the lease a little early.
So far it's going to be a E550 Sport Sliver on Black with P2.

'12 CLS 550 4matic
Depends on the E! Tough to campare a modded 335 to an E in fun, but as an owner of an 09' 911S, I am qualified to say that my E550 is a very fast well handling sedan (suspension in sport mode). If you are referring to a 350, then I would agree. No slight to 350 guys, it's just a raw hp situation.

Is it confirmed that the 2011 will be delivered in early August? I called a local dealer and he told me that I couldn't order that yet. I was interested in the E550 4matic.

Also, price MSRP went up a little, and I don't know why. Because the Euro dropped against Dollar a bit, I wasn't expecting the price-raise...

No more "Jade Green" for 2011? LOL! Still one left up here in Bellevue if you must have a Mercedes that matches your Jeep Wrangler

"E550 Sport Sedan receives new 18-inch, AMG 5-twin-spoke wheel"
Is there an optional wheel package for the E550 Sport Sedan too then? If so, what does that get you if the 18" AMG 5-twin-spoke wheels are now standard?
