any pics of designo exterior colors on W212? (esp Mystic Red)
I doubt any have been made here in the US, but perhaps there are some in Europe somewhere?
Thanks!
It was a great deep red color - not maroon but not bright red. The paint really sparkled. . . I was tempted but went with a different color combo.
I took a few pictures of the car when I was in L.A. to help me think about my color choice. I hope these photos are helpful.
If it's still for sale, can you send me a private message with the name of the dealership? I live in San Francisco, and just an hour flight down to LA. I'd love to go check it out in person and have an excuse to visit a friend in LA.

While I am a fan of the Barolo Red, the Mystic Red sparkles a lot more than the Barolo Red and is a different shade of red. The Mystic Red seems to be a more complex color, there is a hint of deep purple but it looked closer to black in the shade of the dealership. In the sun, it sparkled red . . .
If I recall, the price of that designio color was about $2,300 which is not cheep but not too much so that if it is a color you love - you can justify it. You will also have one of the rarest of colors out there - if that means something to you.
I've added two more pictures that I did not originally send to give you more views of the Mystic Red. The first shows the car behind a Quartz Blue SL550 (my favorite color) and silver CLS550 for perspective and the second shows the car in the shade of the afternoon sun.
I hope these additional pictures are helpful.

My wife's RX450h is pretty close to quartz blue, and it looks great.
I'm personally a huge fan of red (driving a red 2005 S4 now), and your pictures of the Mystic Red were just what I was hoping for, some 'real' shots of the color. It's taken a while for me to get excited about trading in my 'fun red' for the more 'serious' and classy look of one of the standard colors (probably silver, possibly capri blue or indium). I'd even been thinking maybe I would keep my S4 just to keep the fun red spark around. (I have some small regret that I sold my red VFR years ago) After seeing your pictures I'm excited to go see Mystic Red in person and perhaps keep driving red a while longer. Thanks!

The below website shows all the designo color choices that you can have on the E350 and E550 and the mystic red is one of them

It makes no sense to me that only some of the designo colors are offered on the E550 when MB is clearly making them in all of the colors per the website noted above and you can get at least one version of the E-class (the E63) in the Mystic Red in the U.S.
I would go to a different dealer and ask the sales manager to work with MB North America and indicate you want this car in this color and you want them to make it work for you. You can also try MB customer service (1-800-367-6372) to see if they can work through a different channel. It is a win-win for MB and for you if they can sell you a car in that color . . .
Good luck.
I offered to pay up to four thousand $ more if they would do it. I was told by five different dealers, MBUSA would not paint it for any reason!.
I called the largest dealer in Atlanta, California, and Florida.
They would not budge.
Audi would do it for $3,000 but I did not want an Audi.
All of our cars are bright red, Porsche, BMW, Volvo. I have had a red car for the last twenty five years.
I'm sorry you weren't able to get your new vehicle (11' E350 Sport Wagon?) in red.
It would have looked sweet in Feueropal (Mars Red) I'm sure.
The factory does do custom paint work though (I've seen pics of both a bright pink & Mars Red S-Class online before), maybe if you had talked to someone at the Sindelfingen factory they could have approved it and then set a price/made arrangements with MBUSA (or then again maybe not).
From another thread:
OTOH, virtually anything can be special ordered on Euro spec vehicles; example, want a special paint tint? It can be done for 4500 €. That's about 6500 USD at the present exchange rate. But I'm actually surprised it can be done that "cheaply" considering the perturbations it must cause to the production line which kicks out a car every 30 seconds. Customized colors are painted by one dedicated robot, paint tank & line/nozzle flushing afterwards, doors taken back off after the painting (so there's no color variation) and married again with the car toward the end of the production line, etc.
