It's here!!! 2011 E350 4Matic Tanzanite Blue Met/ Black/Almond
Car arrived at dealership this AM and I pick it up Wednesday PM. Car looks great in that colour combo. I could not tell it apart from a 2010 on my first look. I will compare both cars side by side when I get this one home. I will let you know at that time of any changes. I am anxious to compare the COMAND screen for any improvements.

Actually I think Tanzanite Blue is Capri Blue in the US.

So do they get 3D or no? Last I heard it was a negative. Can't remember what the changes were though.
Curious to know just what they changed on the rearview mirror too.

The only COMAND change that is coming in Sept. production is the temperature display on the COMAND screen. There was talk of 3D on the COMAND screen similar to the S class. That is the change I was hoping for. In any event I will know Wed. If it is not there now it won't be in Sept. production either.
Of interest to Canadians, the power folding side mirrors are still standard equipment even though they were not listed as such. For reasons unknown, this is not available to our American cousins. And again, maybe it's because the Germans simply just like us better.

Anyone knows if it's possible to upgrade the comand software with this 3D-feature? With my old BMW they upgraded the iDrive with new versions a couple of times when they had it in for service.

Got my new E350 today. It's a non event. I don't see any difference except the headlight switch no longer has 0 and there is a seperate button for fog lamps. I don't see any difference in the rear head rests. The rear view mirror is the same as the S class with the compass and they moved the garage opener buttons more to the right. That's it folks, the rest is identical.
The Sept model will have a different back up camera and the temperature will be in the COMAND screen. There will not be 3D according to my dealer. If you are shopping for a new E and if you keep your cars a long time buy the 2010 you will make a better deal.

Cool, thanks!
Also to note, the headlight switch was changed mid 2010 cycle, as mine has it. I wish you could turn them off at will though, don't understand the "Nanny Feature".
Also, I heard that with the 2011's, you can't move the car if it's in D or R and the door is open? That would be another terrible Nanny move.

The reason there are few improvements is because you don't fix what ain't broke. If you own a P2 with pano and a few other options it's as good as it gets for the money. If the reliability holds up on this car MB will finally have their act together.

Yeah, I really had no problem getting first MY this time. I simply looked at the W221 and W204, which have seen little to no improvement in their following years. This being the newest iteration, I assumed it would be just as good if not better than those in terms of not requiring changes in the following years. Especially if you get a mid-late build date (mine is the 2nd to last month of the 2010 MY cycle), then usually some very initial bugs or changes might be made.
Sucks about not being able to move with the door open. Too many nannies on this car as it is, it's annoying.

This sounds lame, but that would be kind of a deal breaker for me? That "Chirp" is so classically "fancy car", I can't believe they'd do away with it with a freakin' HONK?
Is this a cost savings measure? Jeez I hope not, what would be in store for the future of these guys then, manual seat levers on the S-Class? Lol.

K-A sometimes I think you are eating raw meat or smoking the drapes. The difference is now you have two modes. One is silent with flashing lights, the other is a small beep from the horn with lights flashing. Personally I thought it was too loud and opted for the silent locking instead.
Probably they went with the horn because the age group of E buyers is quite old and they could not hear the little beep.
You are starting again with cost saving BS over the car you wished you had waited for. We heard that for months with your W211. Take my word for it. This 2011 is better than the intro model because they have rectified all the known problems. Most flaws are unknown to most owners and are corrected very quietly on the next model and the next, etc. It's just the way the cycle works.

If you have a moment, please contact MB Canada Customer Relations and let them know that you have both a 2010 and 2011 E Sedan and that you are disappointed with the change from siren to horn.
This was a cost-saving measure across the entire line-up and customer feedback is imperative in order to get the siren reinstated.

I mean, c'mon, a "Honk"? My Malibu honks when you press it twice, believe me I notice the little "Chirp" when I hop into the Benz.
Like I said, if they keep cutting these little things out, it'll be a different brand in the future.
