vented seats

are the vented seats lacking power or is it just mine? i was driving a new 7 series and those vented seats actually blow air where you would use the medium setting...in my 550 they are barely noticable...even on a hot day...anyone else?

Posted similar thread on a different site. Also have ventilated seats. You really dont feel the air even at 3 bars but after you have driven for a while on a hot day you notice that your back is not sweaty. They do work, they are just very low power

I agree. I actually feel the seats cool pretty quickly on a hot day but I dont exactly feel a breeze blowing through.

fwiw, they don't blow air out, they suck air in.

afaik, it's always been that way with Mercedes. They're ventilated. Take a thin piece of paper or tissue and watch it stick to the seat's back with the ventilation on highest setting. It won't blow off because it's not blowing out.

There are a lot of threads on this forum and others about how inadequate the ventilated seats feel, esp compared to other cars that have true air conditioned seats.
Here are some of those posts:

fwiw, Porsche ventilated seats work the same way:

"As others have pointed out, the seats are not air conditioned. Wherever you read that... that is just plain wrong. They are ventilated, a fan draws air through the holes in the seat and the back. The cooling effect comes from that airflow pulling moisture off of you. The effect is more pronounced if you wear breathable clothing than synthetics like polyester or a very tight weave also doesn't work as well. If its cool outside, there is little effect. If it's very humid in the car, it's of little effect - since the air cannot evaporate much moisture."

Infiniti M35
What I don’t understand is that they are ONLY available on an E550!?

It pisses me off that you can get it on a 550, why not get it on a 350 sedan with every option, or have it available. I think that’s B.S., makes absolutely no sense....
That ended my interest in the E-Class.

I had to have the cooled seats specially when the car is sitting out in the blistering sun and the black interior heats up.
I went with Infiniti M - cooled/heated seats, where they blow actual air-conditioned air through them
