Sorry to hear about what happened to your car.

It's not just the depth of the water but the speed in which one drives through it; in some cases of even 10 mph may be far to fast. The air intakes should be high enough to avoid water intrusion, you must have been going fast enough to get the water that high.

Hydro lock is a mb design flaw. Report it.

I bought my dream mb on Friday and it hydro locked on Sunday while making a right hand turn on a mall parking lot during a rain storm. The storm drain was overflowing and the water was probably ten inches deep. The mb service manager said because the cai is so low it happens all the time and he recommends treating heavy rains like "snowndays". I reported this to my state attorney general as well as cars ( a consumer advocacy group) and sent a lettercto mb. My insurance company is gonna foot the $23k bill but I think it is ridiculous and that they should sue mb. I know how deep the water was and I know how fast I was going and that makes this car useless to me even after it is repaired. If you had similar problems please email me aim not gonna leave this alone until mb makes it right.

It does not happen all the time in fact its quite rare. Bet you can count the incidents like yours reported on these forums on the fingers of one hand. It only happens when the conditions are right and the driver uses bad judgement like you did. I have owned 8 new MB's since 1998 and its never happened to me. Why not just admit you made a mistake and live with the consequences, thats what most mature adults do.

What's the ground clearance on the E, 5-6 inches? Driving through 10 inches of water is not a good idea and I suspect ANY car would have stalled out, not just MB's. Insurance covered you, what's up with the vendetta against MB.

Are you serious The air ducts are in the grill at the right and left of the highest point.... how about you sue all the manufactures making modern cars with aero dynamic hoods... wait how about you drill holes in you hood and put some off road snorkles on it.... WAIT i have the best idea

SEE PUDDLE

DRIVE AROUND

ive never locked a motor

every time I hear of someone who locks their motor up they say it was 2in of water... lets be honest it was probably 10in or more and when you hit that at 20 the bumper make it 20in

so its all the cars fault agreed
