I am tempted to do it myself following the earlier posted directions (thanks). Did you do the same?
Once again thanks...for the motivation. I am putting Silver/Clear side marker - turn signals on as well.

I think the clear for white cars will match the front headlight housing better. Would go smoked for black cars. I will send you pictures as soon as I get the clear ones in the mail. Got em for about 60 bucks... included matching bulbs without the yellow yoke.

Busy night... Installed new clear/silver side markers (thanks doctordel for the fine posted instructions) took about 25 minutes in total.
Installed the new grill and hood badge (thanks lyjw88 and for the fine instructions as well). Took all of 15-20 minutes.
I think I am done for awhile![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
PS...The grill arrived in just a few days from Taiwan. Nice service!

I would recommend using the bulbs that are already in the socket (do not switch them out with the new bulbs that come with the clear markers). The bulbs the vendor provides have an orange hue. If you stay with the original bulbs they look great (clear...no orange) through the clear side marker. Follow the previously posted instructions from "doctordel"...pretty easy. When you pop the lens out, just be carefull to realign the backing plastic plate to reattach the new lens. Pretty self explanatory once you do it...but it is the most difficult part of the job because you have to do it kind of blind. Good luck. You will really dig the clear markers on a white car. Guaranteed!!!

1) turn the steering wheel to the opposite side your are working on
2) pull the front fender liner from the fender with a good yank; make sure you don't lose the fastener that pops out
3) turn the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull the bulb and socket out from the inside of the lens
4) use your fingers to pull out on the rearmost side of the lens and-once it is free from the fender-pull backwards towards the rear of the car to free the front of the lens from the bracket inside the fender
5) reverse the process with new lens and then reinstall the plastic fastener that popped out

See where you can order grill and flat emblem on Ebay for $170. Looked at DIY and I am pretty mechanically inclined, but could someone please add some additional guidance. I am DEATHLY afraid to mess something up.

I did the flat badge today. Remove the star by popping the hood and grab the underside of the ornament with a good grip and pull down and turn 90 degrees at the same time. Then slide the whole thing out the top. Installing is pretty breezy; I has to cut down the bolt that came with mine since it was too long given the thinness of the hood but that was the only step that required any more gray matter than breathing.

Here are some before and after pictures for comparison. I know some people prefer not messing with the original style of the 212. For me...I wanted a hybrid of a sportier looking German car and the panache of a stately MB. So this satisfies me on both fronts. More importantly...my wife loves it!!!

Looks great, but the grill you are getting from ebay is NOT the stock grill. The stock grill is the one that comes on the car - they are different obviously. My question is - is the one from ebay (aftermarket grill with the star in it) as good as quality as the one that originally came on the car and is the fit and finish of the one from ebay as good as the one that came on the car?
