Lightbulb Your Driving Habits

MB heads: hello............

been dreaming of myself in my car.........

Was wondering how many drivers changed their driving habits after getting a new Benz? you know, more conservative......taking fewer chances, avoiding less pot hole run ins..... easing up on the gas pedal etc...

OR

maybe driving faster, taking curves with less precaution.....spinning tires out at every get go.....having a little more fun than a 'regular' car would permit...and geez, why shouldn't you??

how about other drivers?? do you recieve different treatment on or off the roads because of your MB? for instance, more friendly waves, or allowances of the right of way by other cars?

Just wondering, any story or thought is welcome........

I drive exactly the same. It’s the same as my last car but it costs twice as much. Before my move to an E550 I was driving a Dodge Charger RT. 345hp V8, roughly same length, size and weight car. So there was nothing to change.

Man, you are desperate to get your car aren't you? I feel for you, waiting sux.

Personally my Lexus rattled over the slightest bumps and road imperfections but now there is nothing but silence so I no longer go out of my way to avoid minor bumps and rough pavement. I still make sure to miss the big ones but that's only common sense!

My car is so smooth and quiet at speed that I really have to pay attention to the speedometer. Many times I have caught myself going much faster than I realized. Awesome machine!

2009 E350 Sport Black on Black
Both! Really I have done both . Some days the luxury and comfort make me just chill, other days I have to light it up a little...it is a luxury sport sedan after all. I'm trying very hard not to trade my wonderful 2009 E350/Sport for a 2010 E550/Sport, I have this problem, I used to need a new car every 2 years, now it seems down to 18 months! It's worse then getting married and divorced. I would need a 20 car garage if I won the lotto.

I drive the same, agressive but safe. MB E350 is truely a sports LUXURY car. I don't get preferential treatment but I do get some gawking stares, most likely due to the awesome front end of this car. This is by far the best sports luxury car I have owned so far.

I have the same exact prob. I've been down to 4 months. This is probably more expensive than crack.

Sounds familiar! I tried and tried to not switch from my '06 to my 2010, but I couldn't keep away from my addiction.

In 2 years I've bought 3 cars and sold 2 (3 being M-B's). This is literally in immediate timing regarding when I started earning enough from my labor to enjoy some "fruits".

I always do feel and wish that I will own one (or more) car/s for a long time though, sounds more romantic. Reality has proven differently recently. We'll see.

I am still in the break in period, so I am varying rpms and speeds and driving gently. For me, the MB is a weekend car and not my daily 'beater' (a Lexus).

No special treatment.

I baby my car as well and it's driven for pleasure much of the time as well.

But I drove it right to Vegas when I got it (under 50 miles).

I kind of went rogue on myself there.

Alwars ran cars pretty hard and no different on this one. 120 mph goes by without even breathing heavy... Feels like average cars at 50.

Funny you ask that. I noticed the other day that I am not driving as fast or aggressively in this one.

My 2008 required a significant press down on the gas to get it going, thus I found myself revving high, accelerating harder, etc.

This thing is like driving a land yacht. Smooth, smooth shifting, quiet inside so I have inadvertently been driving more smoothly, less aggressive and more relaxed.

I truly love this car.

Liked 'land yatch' analogy.

On most roads, it seems like that, but on certain roads, I can almost feel the roughness on my right foot - not in a bad way, but thats how much the car is in touch with the road, I guess.

Cool About the same

By most standards, I am probably a conservative driver and always have been. Ironic since I have owned Saab 900 Turbo, Nissan 300ZX, Masda Rx-7 convertible, etc.
Biggest change is that I tend to be careful where I park it in parking lots and on streets. Next to nice cars or by itself if possible and away from the storage area for shopping buggies.
Also tend to be careful when near certain types of vehicles on the highway. Trucks with a lot of crap or trailers with equipment on them, cement trucks, trash trucks, etc. Either pass them quickly or fall back.
Last car I had got lots of little cement particles on it and never knew it because they blended with paint so well. By the time I discovered it, entire side of car had to repainted. Cement/concrete actually becomes a part of the paint when it dries.

I've learned to never hit pot holes with the E class. I changed the tires on my 2009 about 15 times in 2 years.

18" with the AMG package.

That combo loves bubbles and pot hole damage.

Just got back from Germany after renting an E200 CGI Cabriolet. I only wish I had a chance to drive my new 350 over there. the 200 will hit 150MPH no problem. I wonder where the E350 will go.

does anyone know what the Blue Effeciency edition means on the gasoline engines over there? Are they the same as the models offered here in the states?

Breathtaking on all levels.

Not much sidewall on 18" tires to protect against sharp rises in the pavement or potholes. Additionally, you need to consider the strength of the rims on impact. I remember having 2 rims on my E500 replaced due to longitudinal hairline cracks developing. These were replaced under warranty. 19" tires would be insane in my opinion unless you only drove on smooth roads, no construction, etc. That said, they would look cool.

Life is a trade off.
