Angry ok, so how do I teach my maid to read the OM to me because I'm too lazy ....?

Do you use the headlamp washers now?

Not that I need to clean them right now, but my 211 had a button for them and the new car doesn't seem to have any control for them near the headlamps or the windshield washer.

Before anyone answers please see below-

1. No, I didn't read the full owner's manual. Where's the fun in that?
2. Yes, I have the P2 package and I am sure I have them on my car

Go to the owner's manual index under headlamp washer and you will find your answer. If you are too busy and if your maid reads English, have her check the index and it will direct her to the page with the information. Now,once she has accomplished that task, have her read the pertinent information to you.
I could do all of this for you, but then I doubt you have the resources for my services.

I couldn't be bothered to read up either but I think they work automatically on every nth wash of the windscreen. Can't remember the number; maybe 10 but no more than 12.

I'm actually not fat, rather fit actually from doing things for myself, but in any case, you could have saved some effort (And based on your aforementioned service fees) and expense by just admitting you have no idea either.

As for the maid, she doesn't read, she merely obeys.

I'm guessing you would have had an answer cheerfully submitted by folks who like to be helpful had you not admitted that you prefer to depend on others, rather than do things yourself.

I'd hazard a guess that 85% of the posts on this forum are questions that can be answered by the owner's manual. Only difference is I was honest enough to state I hadn't read it.

So I guess honesty doesn't really work that well after all.

As a matter of fact I have read the entire manual and have had to refer to it many times looking for answers. As far as the headlamps it was nothing new because my BMW had the same system.
I must admit that I have asked questions several times on this forum but it was for opinions or for something I could not find in the manual.

PS You appear to have your maid's problem...you don't read either.

I read the manual and I think it said, it washes them automatically after every 10th windshield wiper use.

It's kind of dumb, because if the 10th wiper use is right after a car wash, it totally messes up your clean car.

The search engine here works really well. There are already two threads on the W212 forum that answer your question and in detail. Search is sometimes even quicker than looking it up in the manual, and definitely quicker than starting another redundant thread and waiting for an answer in-between all the wise guys like me...

Yes, they could be, but it is a good way to build friendships and conversations sake......luckily there are not too many 'stuck up' people here that make you feel retarded for asking a question that may be easily looked up........it's
a forum to chat and discuss things........

maybe someone should start a 'read your manual' thread......

lighten up people, LOL.................

its first wiper wash once you start the car then every 10 thereafter.

I agree it needs a button. Pain in the azz when driving in heavy snow and you want to blast snow off the lamps.

Ah so you knew the answer from the start.....

So this exercise in douchebaggery was merely to "prove" that I am lazy (something to which I freely admitted from the OP). Hmmm. Daddy didn't pay enough attention?

Ah, Where would we be without those who feel the need to feel superior?

Aha!

Frankly I figured this would happen - hence my admission of not reading the manual from the getgo - avoiding all the "Did you you reboot?" type retarded questions.

If I really just wanted the answer I would have looked in the manual, I figured it'd be a good chat. Some guys did post how they discovered it and how goofy it is in operation.

But there are always the few who must show how clever they are.

Well what can one expect when a mod (supposedly the ones that are supposed to prevent douchbaggery in forums) uses his god like powers.

Thank you to all who answered the question and shared their views on the topic rather than just proving how the internets bring out the worst in people.

I'm "mortified" for posting my condescending comments. Obviously, you were offended. For that I'm sorry. Next time you would do better to just ask the question. It was unnecessary to mention you can't be bothered to read the manual. It gives the impression that we are suckers for looking it up for you.

if you have a PDF version of the manual, and you own Acrobat (not Reader),
the software will synthesize a voice and read the manual aloud. check it out.

Seems I've been given an infraction for insulting the mod who insulted me first. That and my post was deleted where I explained that Pete didn't offend me (but also did not like what the mod did).

So now I'm sure I'll be banned, for disagreeing with a mod, who started more trouble than he prevented.
