Consider E350 == appreciate practical info
I'm considering an E350. One big issue for us is cargo space/capacity. How does the vehicle stack up in practical capacity, both in the trunk alone and also with the back seat down.
FYI, wagon is not an option, so I'm trying to see if the sedan would work, or whether I should stick with SUV-y things.

The trunk space is OK, but the depth is seriously restricted by the handles for dropping the back seats.
Even when the back seats are down, the depth is again restricted by a low-hanging black plastic box, which seems to be part of the sound system.
I probably should have waited for the wagon - so much more room - but I much prefer the look of the sedan.

You may even have to order a car to get one. Best bet is to compare dimensions based on Edmunds or similar site and then go actuall look into the trunk.
The hinges don't bother me and I don't think they take up that much room personally.

How does it handle a Thule box up top?
And can you get a towing package for the E350 sedan? (I was told by dealer you couldn't for the wagon, which seemed bizarre)

from your inquiries and cargo situation and now towing, you would be better served by a max'd out full size luxury P/U with seating for 6 with a tow package built in with the high out put alternator, larger pads and rotors, and trans cooler.

Not really. Most of the time there's no need for all the cargo space, which is why I'm considering a sedan.
