2) don't understand why Ipod integration kit doesn't charge ipod

4) totally minor but a pet peeve nonetheless - silver PLASTIC tire valve caps...really $68k and you make the caps out of plastic. It was terrible that those nice hex shaped brushed aluminum valve caps from the loaner lexus I had for a few days fell off when the car was in my driveway...it'd be a shame to throw them away so I used them.

J.Mo- Agree with your comments. My Ipod- does get charged while driving, check yours out again? Found very inexpensive Valve Caps that I am very happy with...check these out for an alternative.

wanted to get tire stem caps too......only 18 bux.........and I can install them myself...hehe.....
The accessory MB tire valve caps are now made of plastic for that exact reason. Metal valve caps should not be used with TPMS they can weld themselves on requiring an expensive repair.

If those are made of metal, I would suggest taking them off immediately. See my previous post.

This is by design. It can be a safety issue if you are driving and accidentally hit a memory button that is not yours. If the seat continues to move until it reaches its memorized position (like on most cars) it could put you in an awkward spot and possibly cause you to lose control. By requiring you to hold the memory button, you always have a way to immediately stop it.

I'm a total nit-picker, and there are tons of things I love and wish were better on this car (or anything in my life), but I'm too lazy to write them out right now.

However, I totally agree about the rearview camera. Sometimes when a car creeps up really close to my rear bumper, I have this natural tendency to want to turn the rear camera "on" to see how close they are. I'd put it in reverse, but that might not be too smart.

Can you post pictures of your caps? I am confused here. My BMW and MB have metalic caps and they came with new car.

Safety issue????? You design it such that the memory button is disabled when the car is in motion. You only need the memory button when getting seated.

the auto high beams are nice too, although with all that light up there it makes me wonder if they'll burn out sooner....kind of like the ambient lighting theory........
their always on! but they are easy to turn off......
with that said, the new lights next year don't really bother me....mine are bright as hell
already.....couldn't imagine I'd need them brighter....
that's interesting about the plastic valve caps too......I wonder how many people are aware of potential damage with metal caps..........

lol, then everyone would be complaining that they can only use the button when parked. I am the only one that drives my E550 and I have three settings for me and I change then depending on my mood. I have my (1) normal, my (2) laid back, and my (3) sport. I change them on the fly not just when I enter the car.

Also when my daughter is with me she fiddles around the back seat while getting in, I would hate to press that button and something happen to her and my reaction be too slow, you cant get any faster than just releasing the button while you still have your hand on it. Yes we all know that we should take precaution when it come to kids but sometimes ***** happens but the less chance of ***** happening to my daughter the better.

shouldn't be too difficult or too expensive...Lexus has this on all windows and sunroofs - called "pinch control" As soon as there is opposite pressure on a window (i.e. a blockage) it reverses direction. Now from a car jacking standpoint that would not be great but for kids it is safer.

Also on the seat memory thing...agree it is a safety feature, but the "other" way to go would be to have the seat memory buttons disabled once the vehicle is in drive, but in park it could work as a one touch feature instead of a hold the button down feature. Also keys linked ot memory settings would be nice too, but I didn't find the need for them when I had them on my Lex.

I am pretty sure that the Lexus loaner he had would have TPMS sensors too. I know my dad's lexus has TPMS and has metal valve caps. He has not had a problem in 4 years with it. So, I don't understand how it would be an issue with MB. From what I understand, TPMS sensors are made by the same company for all mfg's and models.

Not sure about aluminum, but metal caps tend to rust/corode and can be quite difficult to get off. While many people will check TP often, with the dash read-out, most will never check the TP. Therefore caps will corode.

If your iPod doesn't charge, go to the dealer and get the updated cable. Apple changed the charging protocol on the new iPod models from (I believe) 5v to 12v.

iPod/iPhone should definitely charge with the integration kit, although it won't charge when the car is off (and electrical is off)

love:
-power of the E550
-comfort on long trips
-power of the E550
-voice recognition (seems to work VERY well for me)
-car drives smaller than it actually is
-and finally, power of the E550

don't love:
-steering could be more 'precise' with more progressive feedback
-paddle shifters need to have a true manual mode
-shifting needs to be faster (<500ms) in sport mode
-need to have another level of sport mode that is firmer, perhaps lowers even more (advantage of the suspension is that it COULD lower more)
-iPod integration in the glove box- why not the center where the driver can reach it easily?

I did the AMG event a month ago and drove the SL63, C63, and E63. C handled the best on the course (which was a surprise, I thought the SL would...) but the E is a complete beast for a 5 seater.

Best surprise is the sould quality of the Harman/Kardon Logic7. I listened to several tracks on the test CD and it is outstanding.

Biggest disappointment is I do not have a heated steering wheel in my car. I will definitely miss this on cold mornings.

I don't actually mind MBTex. I notice it develops wrinkles a lot slower than leather does and looks almost exactly the same.

Leather is ofcourse far more comfortable.

It's the leather smell I miss the most. I've had leather interiors in my cars since the mid 90's and you kind of get used to that.
