I do because my car doesn't have the keyless go.
But I think the key is poorly designed. The lock button is fine, however, the unlock button is on the lower left and too small. Very inconvenient. Plus the horn beep is far inferior to a nicer "chirp" type confirmation sound.
I keep finding small things about this car that bother me because of poor design.

It's just really as to how M-B would use a entry-level-car type of "honk", when marketing themselves as the ultimate of Premium brands, with such a rich history. Little things like this certainly go a long way.
Anyway, my car is so different from any other cars I drive, with the Keyless Go, and the upper stalk shifter, that I tend to get confused (when getting into other cars) every now and then.

I never reach for the keys but I have a different problem. I've gotten so instantly used to keyless go that I keep forgetting to lock the car when I get out. Never having to take the keys out of my pocket means I need to retrain myself.

Yes, I've forgotten to lock my car too many times as well, due to Keyless playing tricks on my mind. It would be nice if it could give you like a little "warning" in case you close the door and don't lock it within 5 or so seconds.

I think it does lock automatically doesn't it? or you can set it up that way......mine is
on a 40 second delay if I forget to lock it.....or something like that.......
and 'yeah'!
wonder if the horn can be modded..........that would be great to have one of those
Ferrari horns or something.....
I'm not familiar with the traditional horn sound.....

Or it would lock on its own if the key is not near the car for more than a couple minutes. I had a Viper alarm on my Dodge and it would lock the car and roll up the windows after a minute.

The horn is indeed a pathetic gaffe by M-B for 2011 models, as it should not belong on an M-B. I spoke with someone from MBUSA Online once, and brought it up, and they said they realize this is an issue with customers, and they are working on changing it back.
It's just really as to how M-B would use a entry-level-car type of "honk", when marketing themselves as the ultimate of Premium brands, with such a rich history. Little things like this certainly go a long way.

I too find myself reaching for the column shifter when driving other cars. And then when I do get back into my E-Class I am reaching down towards the center console for a shifter.

I agree I hate the horn too. At least you can turn it off in the instrument cluster menu. Hopefully they are working on changing it back.

To my knowledge the car will only re-lock itself automatically if you unlock the car, but do not open a door or trunk within 40 seconds or so. It would probably be bad if the car automatically locked itself when you got out, I could see a lot of things going wrong with that.
Hyperion: Are you sure that you can do that? Where do I find that option in the I/C Display Menu? I'd like it to lock after about 40 seconds to 1 minute in the case that I forgot to.

hi K-A,
not sure, it may be longer than 40 seconds....
but it was set up this way by the dealer or whomever...
doesn't bother me since I have my key on me...and I'm getting better
at training myself to access all the things I need too....
I was filling up the other day and the pump didn't auto stop and gas went everywhere!
luckily I was able to get all the gas off my paint and wheel and shoes......but has this ever happened to you? or was it the pump? whadda think?
kinda seems like a dumb question, but just wondering......

I sometimes put the key in the center storage console and forget it there.
Big thing that gets me is the location of the turn signal stalk. My MDX has it in a different position so if Ive done a lot of family driving over the weekend and then driive the benz to work on monday I get it backwards and wind up setting distronic instead.

Now I'm gonna be a bit paranoid, lol. I'd just keep a close eye the next time you fill up. Maybe use another Gas Station.

Especially in quick-think situations, I've confused the two regularly, not good.

I almost didn't buy my car because I accidentally (and unknowingly) turned the cruise control on and set it to about 40 when merging onto a highway (pushed the cruise instead of turn signal). As soon as I took my foot off the gas at 55 or 60 it tried to slow rapidly down to 40 again. Happened a few times and the salesman had no clue. Of course, as soon as I took the ramp and stopped it shut off. Left me scratching my head because it didn't happen after we reversed direction to head back. I didn't figure it out until I came here and read people here complaining about the stock placement and then a big lightbulb switched on in my head.....

It happened to me once but not because the pump didn't auto stop but because I have this bad habit of always rounding up to the next nearest dollar when I pump gas. Well I find out the hard way that in a MB you can't do that because when the pump stops there is no room for over fill so all the gas started to pour out onto the rear quarter panel. Luckily that gas station has an awesome(new) touchless car wash.

Most cars have P (park) shift at the top. There were numerous times when I tried to park and wondered why am I moving backwards. This happened in the beginning, not anymore.
Mine (gas) shuts off automatically when it fills up.

Opposite for me
It is just the opposite for me...I've had keyless ignition/entry since my 06 Lexus IS..then to my 09 GL and now my E. When I get into my wife's GL without Keyless GO I put my finger into the key slot and then have to unbuckle my seat belt and go digging for the key in my pocket...
