Rear Spoiler .. Yes or No?

I am still debating this. When I ordered the E350 I opted for a rear spoiler without giving it much thought. When that deal fell through, the E550 will now be my car of choice. I have a spoiler on the current E63 which sort of fits the car. The spoiler on the W211 E350/E550 is not the same as the one I have now. However the more I think about it, the less I am inclined to put a spoiler on the E550. It looks more stately, but still awesome even without it. Anyone care to share their opinions. The car will be ordered in Arctic White and have a Panoramic roof. It is the sport version. I DO NOT care for a roof spoiler.

I like the trunk spoiler, have a carbon fiber one on my artic white E550, need to make it a little different from all the 350's since they are visually identical. I think the CF or black spoiler matches nicely with the black pano roof. I also blacked out most of the chrome to go with a black/white look.

Gnarly auto parts was selling an aftermarket spoiler which could be ordered painted to match your car. As I recall it was about $220 painted.

I'd recommend the rear spoiler. I got an E63 replica for MUUUCH less than the OEM would cost, and the design and quality seem exactly on par with the OEM E63 wing.

I think the W212's rear "needs some slight work" from stock, to get in line with the rest of the car, and the rear lip about does the job, IMO. It does look clean without it though.

And definitely a no vote on the roof spoiler as well, not a good look IMO, especially when it breaks up the Pano roof.

hi, I say they're both awesome, I have both of the stock spoilers on my car.....
seeing as how MB does not put things on that serve no purpose, I say they both have some sort of function: improve airflow and dynamics.......
I say go for it, but if you know the roof spoiler bothers you, then not that one, but I say hell yeah to the trunk one.........
also consider a rear diffuser?

No for me - hard to see the value add. I don't think it it looks bad I just don't love it. I cant imagine this thing actually creates any usable downforce?

Best few hundred bucks I ever spent. The Gnarly spoiler is A++. Makes the car much "sportier". Go for it.

No spoiler. But this is advice from a 50+ driver that sees no point in adding something that has no real function.

I like it with a spoiler.
The frugal guy I am... I ended up ordering it off Evilbay. The finish didn't match the Steel Gray or the gloss of the rest of the car and needed to have the thing redone for another 130$ or something.

I am 50+ also but act 20-. If I get the spoiler it will be from the factory. Still leaning against it. I think the rear split seats are a better value. Used them extensively on my 2003 E500. Have until January to decide. That is when I will place the order.

I'm not being cheap. A 70K car is not cheap. The $300 for the spoiler is inconsequential. It was never split seats v. spoiler for me. I guess it's a matter of taste and the ultimate decision is mine to make. I see spoilers for AMGs making more sense than E350s or E550s. In 2003 I don't even think spoilers were an option on W211s.
