Just replaced my air intake filters with Green Filters, opened the intake manifold and to our surprise my E550 did not have charcoal filters (I was under the impression they were right under the normal air filters), everyone I talked to sure thought they did (maybe because the W212 AMG has them), just goes to show you sometimes you have to dig out the facts.

Notice any difference with the new filters? I'm going to get the K&N's as soon as I make it to Autozone to order them. As for the charcoal filters, maybe I'm missing something here but isn't charcoal for cabin filtration?

Yes there is a charcoal filter inside the car, but the E55 and E63 (also have a charcoal filter stacked under the regular intake filter (never saw it but I have been told this). Regarding impressions, I haven't taken the car out yet because I'm working on a few other things, but I'm not really expecting too much from a filter only (especially since there are no charcoals), I have heard it may be a little smoother.

FYI on the attached from the W212 AMG forum

I didn't do mine but it only took the guys at ASP in SF about 5 minutes, so I can't be very difficult. I'm sure someone will chime in for you.

My W210 has charocal filter and even special button to activate it. W211 didn't have any, but W212 has one activated automatically.

Thanks I'm not sure what you mean, where are they, they're not in the intake manifold.

PS I'm not talking about the cabin filters.

Yes, my mistake and meant air filters for cabin. Regarding others I do not know.
